    Valve cover gasket

If it's out the exhaust, then it's burning oil, that does not happen from valve cover gaskets. Valve stem seals are the most likely to cause a problem after leaving the car for a bit. It could also happen after extended idling, or right after engine braking, and getting back on the throttle.

    battery relocation question

I posted this elsewhere, but I do feel that it's relevant. For ground, I have a length of copper pipe that runs from the firewall to the back of the car. This is a MUCH better conductor than the chassis is, and becomes the path of least resistance. That my amp rack is connected straight to...

Guage Pod in place of Interior Light?

Personal opinion: I think it's too damn close to my head to be usable. If you want to do it to have some pretty dials for someone in the passenger seat to watch, or for pure rice-boy style with the targa off, then that's fine, but I certainly wouldn't put any gauges that I intend on USING...

    just shimmed my wastegate

If he hit 18PSI with no fuel cut, then something else must have been severely restricting. FCO is based on airflow, not boost pressure. You can have all the boost pressure in the world, but if it's not flowing the air, then it's not making the power. Also, altitude makes a difference...

Post LED clusters and climate controls.

Mine came from Hong Kong, ~3 week delivery time via post.

    polised 91 5 star wheels

Polished sawblades: They looked good for a year or so, but if you don't keep 'em polished, they get dull, and they're much harder to polish the next time.

    just shimmed my wastegate

A slight shim, combined with an MBC can do a nice job though. Personally, I have my wastegate shimmed, probably more than I really should. (It's just 2 washers, but they're pretty thick.) When I then put on the huge exhaust, it makes more boost than I really think that I want on a stock...

    M series interchangable parts guide?

Well, I know that people have connected the NA knock sensors from a 7M-GE to the GTE electronics, and therefore, I'd say that the knock sensor is usable. (Should be, it's basically just a microphone.) The question would be if it will thread into the bosses on the block for it, however, I...

    7m-ge to 7m-gte upgrade

Heh. Find someone with a similar year car who is upgrading from an auto to a 5 speed, and make a swap. There should be some interest...

Toyota thinks my Supra is a Land Cruiser

Hmmm... Yeah, for the 80s and early 90s, the VIN decode was different. 1 Country of manufacture 2 Manufacturer 3 Plant # 4 Engine Code 5 Chassis designation 6,7 series Thus JT2MA7 means "Made in Japan, by Toyota, plant #2, M block engine, A series chassis, generation 7..."...

    Lexus AFM?

The hose that goes from the AFM to the turbo is commonly called the accordian hose. There's a Toyota part name for it, probably something like #1 intake pipe or something. No, it won't come with the Lexus AFM. You'll also find that it's very tight going over the Lexus AFM, since it's bigger...

    Electric cutouts?

LOL. Actually, an open header on an NA will be LOUDER than it would be on a turbo. The turbocharger itself takes a lot of the sound away. In the process of doing my turbo swap, I had to drive the car a couple of times with no exhaust, and it was a lot quieter than I'd expected it to be.

Fan Belts need changing time. Tips & advice appreciated

I took apart my original OEM Toyota fuel filter, when I (stupidly, as it turns out) replaced mine at about 250,000 kms. Then, at about 320,000 kms, when that one started acting bad, I took it apart. It should have been a clue that an original Toyota OEM filter costs about 4 times what the...

    Lexus AFM?

Good to know I'm on the right track, though I hope to avoid the next steps... So far, I'm at the Lex AFM stage in this list, which is pretty much the order I did it in, too. I still need the AFPR before I go forward though.

    Getting to Rear Speakers

What he said. ;) Yes, the whole trunk trim does need to come out. However, it could be worse. For the '89+ that have the "sub-speakers" -- basically 3.5" pseudo-tweeters -- in the rests by the rear seat, not only does the trunk trim have to come out, but the rear seats also need to come...

    battery relocation question

Well, it was a cheap solution when I did it. I don't know about now. on the underside of my car there is a length of 1/2" copper plumping pipe that runs along the driver's side chassis rail, bolted to the frame. I did that in preparation for my stereo system with the amp rack in the back...

Head lights on when car is off?

Interesting... When I finished my 7M-GTE swap, as soon as I connected the battery, the headlights turned on. They didn't pop up, they just turned on. I checked my fuses, and didn't find any that were blown, it just seemed to be that there was a ground signal going to the headlight relay...
