We (AHRDA) have a race at Budds creek every year, I just never seam to make it.
I will usually go to Norwalk, Bristol, Rockingham, Indy, and sometimes Sturgis. If we get to make to an east coast this next summer, I will def. pay your way in.
So do I, but last time I took it out, the crew was a no show. I put it away for the year because I am crew less. Can't get anyone to go pit crew with me this year.
Why are there so many ifs and buts floating around about the eagle rods still? Forget all the crap you have heard from people. The long and short is all new 7m Eagle rods come with 3/8's arp bolts which are way stronger than the toyota bolts. Same size bolts in the 2jz Eagle rods. NOTHING wrong...
Old wives tales. The arp rod bolts in all modern Eagle rods are 3/8 bolts. Much stronger than the stock replacement arp's for stock rods, and loads stronger than the stock toyota bolts.
I thought about making a girdle out of 4340 steel that incorperated the main caps as one giant piece of steel. Just sounded like too much work. I won't say what the price was, if anyone needs one, we can talk about a girdle that will work for your set up. Prices will vary greatly depending on...
Thanks for the kind words everyone. I am sure the new owner will post his own pics too. Several people have guessed where it is going. I need to get started on his cylinder head now.
I would have done steel, but wanted to save on the weight, so 6061 aluminum, heat treated after milling, 1 inch thick should hold plenty. Hard to tell in the pics, but the meat areas are very wide also, Should be as strong as any hot or cold roll. This girdle was done all by hand on a manual...
Just wanted to post some pics of some recent work I did. This stuff is traveling to the other side of the world in a few days to be with its new owner who will be trying for 1500-1800 hp on a 7m.
6061 aluminum 1 inch thick
Shown with the heat treated 5160 billet steel matching caps...
As slow as it will go, I beleive the best results will get you a Catapiller spec of 75 which is very close, but will not meet a RA spec for HKS. This is the same machine we use.
Duration is measured in terms of lift, not degrees. Meaning your cam will have a certain degree numbers of valve open time begining at a certain valve lift point. This is where too many cam manufacturers cheat. They say they have a 272 duration cam, but that is measured at 0 lift. Worthless...
who is doing that re-grind? Kinda odd grind. I would really be curious to see the timing tag myself. Wonder what the ramp lenght vrs total advanced duration is like. You are starting to push the upper limits of the stock base circle with that much lift also.
