Yea the MK3s I have seen in my lifetime I can count on my hands. Certainly are a rare sight I guess everyone is either hiding them in the garage, rusting in the driveway, or taking them out on weekends.
Wow, I hate it when people write like that or in cursive. Luckily my mechanic knows a good reputable machine shop that some friends of mine have had work done by them and were really happy with their work.
Is that "the works"? I plan on doing that when I get a jz motor when I get all of the parts and such then get the block and head machined, checked, etc. then have the shop install all of the new parts and check clearances and such. I would rather pay a lot to make sure the job is done properly...
Drove my MK3 to drop off a package and get a haircut, while I was at the UPS store an old couple was walking to their car next to mine and the guy told me his dad surprised the family with a brand new MK3 just like mine and I let him sit in it and he had the biggest smile on his face. This...
lol I just want to have my mind at peace like someone said earlier, "Do it right the first time". Since i'd have the motor I'd clean it up very well as well as the engine bay, replace every seal and gasket possible and put new parts in bam, new motor with 500hp that can handle 700+ and I can...
Yea what I plan on doing when I do a JZ swap is practically rebuild the entire motor, tear it apart, machine the block and head, replace the internals to handle 700hp but have 500hpish from the motor. Be like a new JZ motor.
The way i've always felt about twin turbos is if you want to upgrade the turbo system it's going to be expensive, want a bigger turbo? You have to get two of them lol.
I replaced my head gasket without machining the head or anything, which I know was risky but I used a metal ruler and feeler gauge to get an idea of how warped the head was and it was within spec using that. I used ARP head studs torqued to 90ft lbs as instructions said and after I was done I...
I highly agree with replacing everything you can especially seals and gaskets and doing head and block work. Get everything done while the motor is out so it is much easier and once you drop it in you can fully relax and enjoy the extra power.
Sweet, lol your Mk3 doesn't have the ninja cup holders under the arm rest? I found out mine did awhile after I got it I was like SWEET ninja cup holders
I drove the car around for a bit to see how she runs now and so far she ran fine, hit boost a couple of times and the thermostat cover didn't blow off lol; however, the turbo does sound a little weird now I assume it's just the air flow from the messed up accordion hose that is making it...
I am going to replace the thermostat housing anyway I just want to temporarily fix it now so I can make sure there isn't anything that I missed. So far I just have the thermostat housing and accordion hose to replace and she should be set after that.
