    AEM vs MoTeC

20k for that jpg that John posted is cheap in racing. Bosch Motronic MS 5.2 ECU alone is just 21,000 EUR ($31,607 USD) Add the Bosch DDU 4 4,500 EUR ($6772) Application Support for Bosch to program the ECU for application... Est. 40,000 EUR ($60,204 USD) Total in that beast is 98,000 and...

    AEM vs MoTeC

Just wait until (if you ever) start using pitot static tubes to gather pressure deltas on different parts of the cars. It turns into a science experiment in a hurry!! :D

    AEM vs MoTeC

You are asking the question incorrectly :) The question you should be asking is, for the features that you want, can the AEM fit the bill or do I require something like a MoTeC? Support. Usually it is underestimated but I can tell you this. With the likes of John Reed and tuners you are...

    ProEFI Interest?

from reading, only the tuners need everything. And literally they do. Why would the end user want to go and change PID values for DBW, decay values on acceleration etc. There is ZERO need for a DIY'er to be in there mucking that stuff around. Especially on stuff that your life depends on (DBW...

    ProEFI Interest?

wow, I think I am in the twilight zone! Someone on this forum talking about flying out an experienced tuner to tune their car.... <-- looks out the window... Oh nos hell froze over!! :o ;)

    ProEFI Interest?

You know after all these years, I still do not understand why Toyota decided to do a multiplexing for the ignition system in ONLY the 7m based cars! Oh well, I agree with you. With the amount of external coils and ignition drivers, it should not be that hard a job. Techniocally if you...

    Exhaust Stud Time

The DriftMotion studs are 7/16, a bit bigger than the stock 10mm ones :) I have this set in my car and it is held nice and tight at 20 lbs/ft (15 is OEM torque).

    ProEFI Interest?

Hey John, good undertaking and glad that you are doing it :) Here are some inputs on a PnP standalone :) Give it a good basemap. By good I mean enough to get it to a dyno shop. Not one to allow for full tilt running. :) Disclosure, by this I mean state it, and if you have to BEAT IT...

Engine management... what to use W/ 1JZ

MoTeC here, what is a KNOCK sensor? Oh you mean one of those thing to detect an event that has already taken place ;) Knock sensors are worthless above 4500 rpm anyway, right when you are about to go into peak power production. To much engine noise to contend with.

Getting into XP without a password?

I suddenly miss the Marine Corps

Hi gents (and ladies!) I know exactly where you are coming from. :) I myself loved the Air Force. Especially the technical side of it (worked avionics on the B-1b and B-2 bombers). I loathed the politics though. When I got out in 96 it was odd as AF1jz mentioned, they fed me, provided...

Who is using the AEM EMS?

below 10 afr means it is EXTREMLY RICH! You should be seeing black smoke out the pipe if the wideband is showing that much! And it should also reak of raw fuel. You are getting flooded. I would decrease startup enrichments a TON and see what happens. How big are you injectors? Base fuel...

Oil Pressure Sending Unit out...Q's on replacement?

as Jetjock stated, 1/8 BSPT (Tapered). Easily found everywhere in the world execpt in USA. Very hard to find here :) With that said. to replace. need another toyota one as that oil pressure sensor is a digital one (ie pulse not analog 0v-5v as it is typical). This means unless you are...

    Aluminium Crankshaft Pulley

ATI pulley... It is new and rebuildable. OEM unless brand spanking new from Toyota...... is more than likely not DAMPENING at all now a days. The rubber material is "toast" by now.

Sue the City for pot hole damage?

Local question unfortunatly. Here yes. A pothole in interstate or city roads is reimbursable by the city. Of course it would be nice if you had a police report for it!

    Joinin USAF

sub 12 min 1.5??? Isn't that a tad slow? Last time I did a 1.5 i managed a sub 10 min. Of course I am in better shape now than I ever was in the Air Force though! Cycling 50 miles on real road terrain tends to do that though!
