I'm with him on this one. I took off my old TB on my 2G and put a larger one one (this was a couple years ago). I forgot the replace the gasket and it developed a vacume leak, resulting in the hissing noise and higher idle RPM's.
This is exactly why I prefer SM. This place is a lot more easy going than most other forums out there. Club 3G was pretty laid back too, but I don't think it is as much as this place is.
BTW Jay, I totally agreed about probation sucking some serious ballz. Sounds like you may have been there...
I think the interior is ok, it's freakin cleaner than some car's interiors I see at dealerships! I think it looks a little odd in a white car, but it's nothing to bash someone over. I would rather prefer black or grey interior with that color, but it's ok as it is. Now if the car was red, and in...
The oily substance in your ic pipes is normal, that's called blow-by. To get rid of that you would have to instal an oil catch can. The blow-by is what will make your TB black (carbon deposits) inside, along with the intake manifold.
Try checking for vacume leaks, boost leaks, check to o2...
From the first pics, I'd say it's good for wiping your ass with (kinda looks like someone has done that already). That thing would be next to useless on our cars.
I'd say the hg is probably blown. It's a good thing we pulled in behind you last weekend on the way to the chinese place or you would have been stranded. My cousin (the guy that bought your old head, thanks BTW) did the same thing as you. Resurfaced the head, didn't do the block, slapped a MHG...
I've never heard of someone needing to replace a speed sensor in our cars. Now speed cables is a different story (been there and done that a couple weekends ago). I guess there's a first time for everything though...
Chris, the guy that had clutch problems at the supra meet last weekend has those fans on his. He said he dyno'ed at 480 before the new turbo kit was installed. I'd say he had those fans on there then, so they're probably good for as much power as most of us will throw at them.
When I first...
Hey, I couldn't help it. I was reading through it, and nobody had said it yet, it was begging itself to be said. Plus I was a little reliever from all of the tech talk.
I like to drive the supra to relieve stress. I just go for a big long cruise around the counties' back roads with no radio. It's really very relaxing, especially if you go alone.
It's quite alright, I didn't wanna risk going that fast and being pulled over, I'm still on probation for some stupid shit I did almost two years ago :3d_frown: .
I think it's just the ones for the nut, you may want to put it on the ones that go into the head just in case. The studs are only suppost the put in hand tight, so I'd think the stud wouldn't tighten much more once you tq it down. BTW, forgot all about the dowels on the head, sorry ;).
I'd say that car would be fine with the bolts tq'd back down to like 75 ft/lbs, hell with only 26k on it there shouldn't be much if any damage done to it thus far, especially being almost bone stock.
