Not really.. Most 1jz I've seen come out with intake/exhaust, dp and dyno ~ 280 or so whp (@12 psi) ( 330 crank x .85 (15% drivetrain loss) =280whp)
With 13-14 psi (just under fuel cut) ~ 300whp dynos are normal
and 320whp @ 15 psi tuned isn't unheard of
not really, but I'll give it a shot
stock 280hp
Cat-back 300hp
DP (highflow cat/no cat) 320hp
Intake 330hp
Boost controller (Just under FC) - 350hp
afc (15 tuned) - 380hp
All crank of course.
If you only care about your car being rare then rock it, but I like the car to look 1/2 ways decent. That color combo is hideous. Maybe if the darker was on the bottom it would look better, but wtf was toyota thinking with that.
I guess if you're not going to use the features then yea, its pointless to spend the extra money even though the features are quiet useful. But then why not just get megasquirt which is 1/2 the cost of Stinger and does eveything you and the vast majority of SM members need.
I'd have to look at the software again, but iirc, a nitrous map (/meth map), boost control, antilag/2 step, knock control, various user switches and inputs.
I think with the stinger you get it in the ass.. 1000 and has only 1/4 of what the aem has why not spend 400 more for something that has much more power.
sub 500whp afc + stock ecu is perfectly fine. You'll gain some wiht a standalone but nothing major. beyond 500whp the standalone starts to...
depends how you run your harness across the dash.. we're going up and over behind the cluster. If you go under the heatercore then lower would be better
stock location is what we're shooting for (getting aristo ecu in that location will be tricky though)
Today we got it drilled and ready to go. W/ the engine in the car we couldn't get to the speedo hole w/ the drill so we drilled down to the right (looking at the firewall) of it. Should be good...
Do you have enough play in your DP and intercooler pipes? They will have to be raised ~ 1" or so. You might get away with the play in the couplers and flex sections/rubber doughnuts, but if not, you will need your pipes modified.
as for gaskets, if you have a stock gasket, that is all you need.
