What parts of Smog did you do worst in? I think high Nox can be a sign the cat is about toast. :dunno: Though I'm sure a non-working cat would have negative effects on most gases.
Working ~55 hours a week doesn't leave me with much more than a few minutes here and there.
Trust me, in about a week, when I go back to school, this thread will grow fast. It will be 100% complete very soon.
Daniel Stern Lighting. google the name and you should find his info.
Awesomeness!!!
I love SM so damn much it makes me want to hug it like a puppy or kitten. This could save me loads of cash and a full days worth of work.
Say what? Did you mean "from the grounded block run wire to: Head, ...etc."?
**EDIT!!! <<<<HOLY SHIT, POST #1000!!! It's the small thigns in life, I tell ya... :)
Thank you very much for all the replies!!!! :)
Are you guys referring to numbers 45517 and 45516 when you say bushings?
If so, I will be extremely happy if that is all that is needed to fix this "condition". The rack definitely moves when it reaches full lock(presumably the only time the rack...
I did this and the rack stays in place until it reaches lock on either side. When it reaches lock, it bumps slightly. It might move about a quarter to half inch, but again it's only when the steering stop is hit that the rack moves at all.
Should it stay perfectly still even when it hits the...
My 89 turbo has many small issues. It's a tank full of fun. :)
The main problem now is that the steering has slop/play in it. There is a small amount of freeplay, but nothing that worries me. The problem is that the steering wheel can turn under force, WITHOUT turning the wheels of the car...
Freaking awesome info!!!
Thank you very much. This will be added to the first post when I get a chance to add more.
KeithH: Pricewise, your advice makes sense as well. I will try the rewire first, followed by the hella mod and document the differences seen at each stage.
The exterior key ring light should be on all OEM driver's locks, AFAIK, regardless of year. It seems many have either worn out from a dying LED, bad/old wire, or bad solder joints.
I dont believe my 89 turbo's light turns on so I might have to pull it off and diagnose the problem in this thread. :)
code 71 = check your EGR plumbing, aka, clean the throttle body AND Y pipe.
I kept getting a 71 and finally took off my Y pipe and found the passage had been clogged full of crap. Cleaned it out with some carb cleaner and a skinny screwdriver and all has been well since. :)
Oh, and I'll be borrowing parts of your posts relating to changing the temp display. Don't worry, I'll make sure it's known you are the author and not myself.
Because that way you get to answer all the questions. :sarcasm:
Do your rpm's drop slightly when you turn on your headlights? If you have stock wiring, the answer could be yes. Electrical components, whether it be brake lights or headlights can affect the "load" on the engine more than you might think. Especially when the wiring is 20 yrs old and at many...
Damn. As long as the new member keeps the car around and you check in every now and then... I guess I'm ok with this. :D
Enjoy the M3. Keep us updated on it!
Emmissions are cake here and they really don't care at all about mods. So long as the exhaust is somewhat civilized and the engine looks complete I doubt you'd have problems.
Rust is actually not bad at all here. Winter time can bring some nasty road salt, but wash your car well once a week in...
I've seen so many of these threads and every time I still chuckle. :biglaugh:
Refill your overflow tank, check all coolant hoses/fittings for any leakage. If you start to loose a bunch (8oz in 200-1000 miles) you may want to start diagnosing a BHG.
You can mix, but you should really get it evacuated by a shop and then replace seals, then try adding the new stuff.
IMO, stay with R12. I just got mine refilled with R12 and the entire system takes 1.5 pounds of the stuff. ~about 75 bucks worth of freon. My A/C blew at 41 degrees F at the...
