The oil used in the K&N means it's not a good filter for any car using an air meter with any element that is sensitive to coatings. The 7MGTE is certainly sensitive and a K&N is a bad match for it. If you want an aftermarket filter I'd suggest AEM Dryflow or Apexi Power Intake. The will probably...
Your goals sound similar to mine so I'll just answer this like it's my own car.
1. Make sure everything is in great shape.
-Replace the broken sway mounts and tabs. They should be cheap to find used or reasonable from a dealer.
-Tires
-Coolant hoses and lines (the 90 degree hoses are a...
The one port on JDM TBs is for the charcoal canister. The other port on USDM TBs is EGR.
You dont need either to run the motor, but a USDM ECU will give you potentially dangerous situations is you dont use EGR. If you dont use EGR you should be using a JDM ECU or a piggyback to correct for the...
I think we need some better pictures to really tell. If it's the union fitting that will be very difficult in car. You may have to remove the head to get to that.
When I have a 7M head off I replace that entire assembly unless it has been recently replaced. The union nut/pipe is pretty cheap...
I discovered my AC system is low.... again. I've refilled it twice now since my 134 retrofit. I thought my leaking valve was the culprit, but apparently there's another leak.
I passed emissions after getting a new cat installed. My metallic core was not working well enough to pass CO emissions...
My shifter was AWFUL before the new bushings. It just depends how yours are now. If you have any noticeable slop it will completely go away with the mc bushings. Good stuff.

Great! I'm glad it worked. When I discovered a few old threads about it a couple weeks ago I couldn't believe it wasn't a better known "fix". I've been all over these forums for 7 years and listening to that damn wind noise for 65,000+ miles and somehow I managed to never hear about this...
Yeah, same here. I tried adding padding to the A pillar side with virtually no improvement.
Ugh, I hope not. That looks like a tough part to "rebuild". Hopefully the dealer you asked was just a little lazy. I won't believe anything's discontinued until Jeff Lange says so, haha.
I've had an annoying wind noise in my window corner ever since I got my car in 2007. I never got around to searching for the answer until this year - 7 years and 65k miles of driving after I bought my car.
I found a few comments on some other small Supra forums, but nobody had pictures and...
OP: Another big thing I did was replace the shift knob with the TRD one. I'd highly recommend that. $50-75 well spent.
Steering stop caps are also a great replacement if yours are broken (many mk3's are). When I bought them a few years back they were maybe $10 for both from the dealer and...
Whoa. How have I not noticed this yet? Keep up the awesome work and pics.
I'd love to do this as well, but I'm not sure if the time, funds and space will ever line up. Hats off to you.

I could have written the second half of your post op. I'm in the same boat with my 335k mile chassis.
I fixed the mirror wind noise about 60% by pinching the vertical slot the window rests in. I can post a quick diy if you (or others) would like.
Door rattles for me are a few things:
-Mirror...
The OEM intercooler and oil Cooler sit next to each other in a convenient way. That would be the easiest way to install an oil cooler and intercooler. If you are asking about aftermarket, then that depends on a ton of variables. How big are both coolers? where are their mounting tabs? Where are...
I haven't dealt with that myself, but I believe you can measure both the block and head. Then you'd make up any difference with the head gasket.

So I read this and then thought, wow, seriously?! I owe you a beer or something, Ian. Somebody would go through the work of removing the block and taking it to a machinist only to reuse bearings and skip a cylinder hone? I can't even imagine that train of thought, but sure enough you were...
I'm confused. [serious] If he's going to have the block machined (which he states above in post 3) is it crazy to assume he's going to do a rebuild? Would anyone tear down a motor, take it to a machinist to machine the block deck and then just reassemble everything and throw it in as is? In my...
True. However, wouldn't it be foolish to have a block prepped for a MHG and not hone the cylinders? And wouldn't you want to have a machinist with a 7m torque plate perform said honing?
Sent from my Moto X.
You need to remove the block from the car and take it to a machinist. The machinist should machine the block with the rear timing plate installed and they should use a 7M torque plate.
To be clear, you should not use a Cometic gasket on the block if it isn't being machined. If you're not...
