You definitely need to sort out the tune and ignition timing before going any further. With that size turbo and the ge compression you don't have much room for error.
That'll be a blast when you've got it tuned up though. Cre let me drive his turbo ge motor and that thing had some snappy power...
As a disclaimer, I dont have personal experience with any mk3 coil-overs. I've ridden in a couple mk3s with aftermarket shock/spring combos and one with no name coil-overs. Take my opinion for exactly that, an opinion.
That being said... my impression has been that in general, coil over...
I just bought koni shocks and Tanabe springs. I debated tein as well, but it was a significant cost increase and I don't trust them to last as long. I drive a lot of miles and plan on owning the car for another 50k miles minimum.
While the adjustability is nice, how often are you going to...

I don't have an extra, I'm actually missing one! I now need to find a driver's side so I have a complete pair.
This is so funny. I have one on my garage workbench and had no idea where the hell it came from. I'm missing my other one so I had no idea I was even missing anything.
They appear to be a few bucks each in the EPC, but this seems unlikely to be still available from Toyota.
It's not...
I've been running a w58 on a 7MGTE for years now with ~11 psi on a CT-26. I think as long as you don't abuse it the W58 will last a long time even on a BPU 7MGTE.
For prep work, load it up and find a good machinist familiar with performance engines and not just a common engine re-builder...
Building your own harness is a HUGE task. Much larger than the swap itself. You need to source a TON of hard to get connectors and terminals, not to mention buy a good crimper (NOT the ones at Home Depot). My harness build took dozens of hours and over $1200. You could do it a little cheaper...
Yes worth leaving trans attached. You need to remove the trans from the engine before the engine can go on the stand.
My compressor is tiny and not very effective. Its 2 gallons and under 1scfm. I'd aim for 3scfm or more for an impact wrench.

I've had mixed results with that crank trick. at this point in your project, I'd ignore it. you can normally break it loose with a breaker bar (NOT a ratchet) and a cheater. I've done a few 7ms with just my breaker bar and jack handle as a cheater bar.
put the car in 5th, e brake on and protect...
First comment may be db, but here it goes. Are you sure you have enough space in the front of that garage bay for an engine house holding up the engine?
Secondly, there's an excellent page on 49 easy steps to engine removal. Search for that and follow it.
Glad to hear you're diving in to...
Sorry to hear, but I've gotta say 15 years and 8 months?! You must have taken exceptionally good care of him. Well done, sir.
If it means anything I've got your (and Milo's) calendar shot from one of Tanya's calendars in my garage on the wall. Your car has been inspiration for me since I...
Yup. My car is living proof every day that mileage doesn't mean shit. Especially now that these cars are all so old. High miles can be a good thing. It means somebody has looked after it enough to drive it often and consistently for at least a large portion of its life. I think of mileage as a...
Wheel size is mostly your preference. IMO 17x8 is the ideal size for a daily with anywhere near factory power. Of course, with a 35-40mm offset.
Re exhaust: switching out the cats and downpipe can make a big difference. Also, pay attention to the turbo elbow. The factory elbow is a restriction...
I've tried to buy a couple cheap Supras and make a few bucks learning (and enjoying) on a quick restoration. I'll echo what everyone else is saying. Buy the most complete car you can find. Interior parts are hard to find in good shape so a clean interior is worth a good amount. Most drivetrain...
Hey, welcome.
First easy power upgrade is turbo back exhaust/boost controller/maybe intake. Don't worry about the intercooler right off the bat. There's plenty more info on a good upgrade sequence, just search around.
Your wheels look a little squished in. Looks like the offset might not be...
That looks strange. The insulation looks a little too loose to be the factory Toyota wiring. There's a ground wire in that area that should mount to the intake manifold/plenum.
Do you have anything grounded to the intake manifold on the underside? It'll be hard to see.
I'd do a resistance...
Almost... maybe... for a non-super car, I suppose.

It has a gain feature that can help reduce or increase boost fade or creep.
I'm a fan of my greddy profec b spec 2.
I don't like the aem because you have to run a vacuum line all the way to wherever you mount the gauge.
