What he said. Not sure exactly what you mean by 'bang', but if it's a busted tranny mount or worn center support bearing,
jabbing the throttle or letting off results in a 'clunk' in my experience.

Ive never heard anyone say to NOT shim the pump, but i think i can be overshimmed.
Ive also never heard of anyone completely tearing apart the pump, just taking the top cover

I bought a Borla for a rear unit, as it was reviewed as one of the quietest performance mufflers.
It is a 3" to (2) 2.5" perforated tube design with stainless packing. I intend to also place a chambered Dynomax muffler at the mid position.
I'm looking for a very quiet system, with a 3" cutout...

Also done, was a check/ resize of the rods, and the machinist ordered/ supplied the ARP mains, and all bearings as well...
