its something you should budget for. You will gain a fair amount of power and its not terribly hard or expensive to do if you do it yourself, just time consuming. Keep in mind, the longer you wait...the more your cams can wear and chances you may have to replace them.
Thats a very high idle. First i would suspect a stuck throttle cable. after you check that...I'd suspect a vacuum leak/broken hose to the ISC. Perform a boost leak test and look over carefully all air hoses to ISC. Check the piece under the ISC valve as well
TPS can also be a culprit in this...
The pin to fit the gear on in the proper direct i assum you mean. The pin looks to be in very good shape, however, on the gear itself, the hole widened some. Maybe .25-.5mm? gonna have to look more closely tomorrow...its snowing like i live in antartica right now.
Yeah, to both of you BIIIIIIIIG thanks for the helpful hints of what ELSE it could be :icon_bigg. I NEVER would've guessed it. I didn't know the cam gear was loose until today bcause i was waiting on a torque wrench and some key socket sizes to eliminate all the other possiblities.
Jdub, by...
its NOT rod knock!!!! wooooooooooot
however now ther is a new problem.
Intake cam gear. Aftermarket OBX. Bolt must have loosened over the couple months, not much at all though as it was still on quite tight. However it slowly ate away a bit of the gear, (cam appears ok). The gear i...
Take this with a grain of salt since its not the same car/tranny:
Well last time i had a whining noise in my car coming from a tranny was when i had a 91 geo prizm. As toyota made the mechanical pieces its at least somewhat similar standards wise.
Anyway....if it is like the whine i had...
didn't know you could really do that, doesn't explain why the noise would vary in loudness by adjusting the timing though. its something to keep in mind though.
I just got in contact with an aquaintence who happens to be toyota master mechanic...he has his own garage at his house and is...
lol, yeah you're probably right not quite that much. In my defense i was pretty damn wasted when i posted that.
Anyway...i wouldn't be surprised if i saw that number in the 13-14psi range and a tune. Of course this is estimating from a race of a C5 so its not exactly accurate but at least i...
I will look. Keep in mind i didn't change cam settings, only via CPS, but anything to avoid tearing up the engine ill try.
Also i have vids posted on page one....you can hear how loud it is/isn't compared to what you heard.
Also, the knock varies, louder and softer as i adjust teh timing...
worst idea ever.....as grim said...you will destroy your turbo not to mention your car won't run without the AFM unless you have an upgraded system that allows its removal
