Actually, it may have some benefit on a normally aspirated, carbureted motor but on a fuel injected engine...I doubt it, and on a fuel injected turbo motor...no way.

All the same I'd still check it for exhaust gasses in the cooling system.

I recommend you go to your local pick ur part and scrounge up a used one. They're cheap and I don't know about where you live but here in Ca. they're pretty easy to find. Normally I wouldn't recommend bone yard parts but hey, it's just an exhaust manifold and: 1. I'd rather have a used one...

You're right on the money there....make sure your machinest understands that these motors need to be machined to close tolorences. Alot of these guys are used to doing american v8's which are set up loose for the most part and tend to want to set up these motors the same way...huge error...
