I can't believe I'm saying this but...
I would have argued with this a year or so ago, but I am starting to think the same way.
Let's face it, 7m is old tech, and performance parts are limited to what's around today.
In other words, I don't see the likelihood of any new groundbreaking...
If it is positive and Supra, count me in. I'm all for it, and so should everyone who is a dedicated Supra enthusiast.
Build it, and they will come.
Best of luck, keep us posted.
You are confused my 89 supra owning friend, I believe that most people prefer the pre-89 front end
(although I have no scientific data to corroborate this).
I am sure it was an honest error on your part.
I don't think you can have too much lip (in the back anyway), too bad they won't fit under a stock body.
I hate the tire sidewalls all puffed out though, looks like shit! Gotta have lots of tire for lots of wheel!
I think I'm gonna go staggered on my next set of wheels, maybe 18's front...
No-one is laughing at you, were laughing with you.
Seriously, that's what you're gonna get. This is a forum of enthusiasts who are generally pretty passionate and committed to their opinions and tastes, We all know we're right!
I should say that I would rather have an 89+ Supra than...
I am pretty sure that the vibration will not be addressed by sound deadening material.
It's more of a matter of rotating mass and the length of the driveshaft.
When you split the driveshaft in half (as the stock unit is) you mitigate some of the vibration that is unavoidable with a 1...
It's probably no weaker then your average sport roof. 2 foot gap or no roof at all...what's the difference?
That's why I sought out a hardtop when I bought my car. How could it be any more "flexy" than a sport roof? I know that the sportroofs are appealing for some, but from a performance...
As long as we're "wishing"...I've always wanted a paddle shifter set-up. I guess I'd also need a automatic/manual switchable valvebody which I guess would also require an updated ECT.
If someone had a tried and true set-up, I'd do it, but me thinks there's too much experimenting involved to...
That's what makes the U.S.A. the greatest country in the world. You get to express your opinion even when your totally wrong!
Pre-89 SUPRAS RULE!!!:biggrinbo
You must mean a stock auto trans.
I've got Kevlar clutches, higher stall, shimmed accumulators, high-output pump and a 4.30 lsd, and I can honestly tell you there is no perceptible reaction time between shift lever movement and gear change.
If I only had a trans brake! Gotta go...
100% 1987 front to back!
I love 87 tail lights!
Kramer is right, 89+ tails are Buick-ish looking. I don't for the life of me understand why everybody likes them so much.
To me, trying to make an 87 look 89+ is like putting glasses and a baggy dress on Angelina Jolie.
I think some...
Funny you should mention that 'cause I've been kicking around the idea of trying to modify a B&M shifter to fit. I don't know if anyone has done it (I doubt it) but it would look killer.
As far as it being "an auto", I live in L.A. and a 5 spd is a torture mechanism out here. Also, set-up...
I've got a non-stock setup.
I changed the ugly shift knob (I hate it too) to a billet unit that I had to machine out so it would fit on the selector shaft and shorten, it originally looked a bit phallic (I wasn't comfortable with that).
Most notably I moved the overdrive lockout switch...
