    Need some advice

    Sounds to me like a water temp sensor is out or on its way out. The only way the computer knows that the water is cold is via "A" sensor. Don't know which one. As for smoking, I would guess its got a bad valve stem seal or several.

    1.0 a/R might be a little laggy.... Depending on what you consider laggy and how large the turbine wheel is. Typically, you're going to want a .68-.86 rear a/r housing for that turbo to be responsive.

    IIRC turbo and NA use the same filter. Stay away from Fram as they have teflon and silicone in them. WIX (napa), Purolater, Toyota are good.
