Ive been through 2 or 3 of those things over the years. They do thier job well and last a long time in harsh enviroments. They don't like to be dropped off the back of the racing trailer, left out in the rain or being pushed past thier limits of lifting.

I have the same clunk and I found its caused by two things: 1.)The rear diff lash is incorrect 2.)The clunk clunk clunk that you hear when the engine is running and the clutch is released in neutral is the input shaft. Im not sure how this fails or what is broken, but its the input shaft...
