well after an all day work I've managed to split both my thumbs wide open including an index finger which are all bruised. I have 1 piston with both retainers in and another with just 1 retainer in. Total hours spent 8 hours.
what a bitch
i know it was wrong but in our mall parking garage we have a few of them as its the law. Well they are fairly large maybe 2ft high. I kept it in the back of the supra for sometime lol!
I got a snap ring plier set and it doesnt seem to help much.
My thumbs are bruised and bleeding. I've only managed to get 1 mounted still got 5 more to do. might take the week.
what about the pin retainers? any tricks to getting those in easier. I got one in just using my fingers. the other is a PITA if been hearing that this would be a PITA but i wanted to try it myself. Any tricks here?
bearings in the water pump or tensioner pulley or alt. replace it all!
btw a/c compressor can and will do this sometimes as well. More likely on the ford compressors tho.
Ron you would be correct. There is a slight angle to the picture but i picked up another one and thats right i see it now. Thanks for pointing that out! Always good to know I was looking somewhere totally different for the offset.
Thanks for the wishes Ron and same goes to you buddy!
Also...
thanks for the heads up IJ I'll be out by my store today and see if we have that castrol I dont think we do. We got some other name brand assembly lube. I'll hit up autozone, advanced, and snapa napa.
Now I'll get to tackle the ring gap later! I'll pm ya sometime about that later
also before I fully mount these things i guess it would help to get some assembly lube and lube the wrist pins up some before complete assembly correct?
Intake side correct?
Fowards? Facing the front of the motor with the notches facing intake side? Correct?
Mounted properly?
btw i found my directions. But there is no offset on our pistons from what i can see, like in their examples. So far am I on the right track?
Thanks...
Ok. I may be blonde but someone clear this up for me or verify that im correct.
Ok the notches in the rod for the bearing face the intake side correct?
Also on the piston near one side where the notch is machined in it has the letters FWD. Foward correct?
So face the rod to the correct side...
