just remember that school is a tool, it is a means to an end. while i agree with cuel about starting small and getting a simple job first(ie oil /tire changes),id go to school(while working a simple job), i will also add that if i had it to do over again i would definatly go into heavy equipt...
im a wyotech grad, took every course they had. back in 97. i was also a ford aaa champ in the state and took 3rd in the nationals. i wouldent change it at all.
i will however say that they have expanded the courses to the point where it may not be the same experiance...id love to go back and do...
depends on what exactly has failed, if it is the throwout or the hydrolics. you may be able to drive it (id tow it anyway as our syncros are pretty weak and easily damaged). if it is the disc or pressureplate it will not drive at all
either way id plan for a trailer to prevent further damage

you need to have somebody rock the wheel side to side while you look at the joints. and the mounts. you should be able to see where you have a loose joint or mount. should be pretty easy to spot. that will undoubtedly be where it slipped. take that point apart, inspect it for damage and reset...
go find a absolutely shitty factory job, work it for at least 6 months and truly listen to the old guys that you work with. discuss politics and life with them, and think about if you could really do this for the rest of your life...bet you will be back in school in no time and dedicated to it!
