I can help solve our national deficit

The national debt(different than a yearly deficit) is about equal to the total spent on Lyndon B Johnsons' "Great Society", which of course did not diminish the numbers in poverty, but instead increased the rate.

    Removing MAF screen?

No AFM screen should be removed, including GM, Ford, Toyota etc.

I just bought an 06 Turbo Diesel Jetta

The previous 1.9 direct injection was 150, just off idle. This can only be better. It is a decent car to drive.

Whatever you do, make sure the engine repair is done right. Or it will happen again.

After many descisions, i have decided to go 1jz.

Lets see, spend 4 to 5 thousand on a stock engine, because you can save money not fixing the one that wasnt taken care of in the first place. Good call.

    question

If you think just the lower hose is dripping and not the upper, the water pump internal seal is leaking and coolant is running out of the weep hole. Follow the drip and see where it comes from.

    Electrics a bit sketchy...

You take the car to a qualified shop and have amperage output tested. Your gauge isnt bad, they just arent dead on. Using a DVOM is also an easy check on the voltage. Running voltage of 13 is not enough. You should be at least 1 volt higher than shut off, which should be 12.6.

    Fan always on

Sorry for the confusion. He didnt say the viscous coupling was locked and the fan would not turn. If you cant turn the fan clutch, then the coupling is locked and it is time for a new one. Or a Tundra clutch, which is a nice piece.

    Electrics a bit sketchy...

If the alternator belt is tight, have it tested for amperage output. And you could have had a weak battery replaced by your "tiny" battery, so yes, that could be it.

Never do business with Precision Brakes Company !

Doesnt it suck knowing that somebody else in the past told the company they didnt get the right parts(when they did) and the company sent replacements, and probably more than once. Then the customer never sent in the old parts that werent right.

    supra not getting any spark

Why not start with the simple stuff, and check the IGN fuse under the dash? Since it is the first component in the ignition circuit anyway.

    7m revability discussion

How about the Ford 5.4 with its 3.53" bore and 4.1" stroke? The 2000 Cobra R made peak power at about 6200 or something. Cam timing, the shape and ports of the heads, and the manifold have more to do with rpm power range than bore and stroke. Bore and stroke affect peak numbers, not where they...

    Newbie question

Actually, that much is way too much for for GE or GTE with those miles. Even running good, the engine is well worn and could end up being a smoker. Look at my pictures for my 91 that is near mint with 120k miles. I paid $4500. With a good body, I would offer $2000. He will say no, but his car...
