    1-2 synchronizer ring is worn. That comes from driving styles. On the top of the ring is pointed teeth. Those are the clutching teeth that hold the gear. That is the grinding you hear the clutching teeth out of sync. The bottom of the ring is where the speed change occurs to allow shifting...
