The 700R4 is one of the biggest pieces of shit ever made, that is why.
It is as bad as the Ford AXOD found in the Taurus and Mercury FWD cars.
The 700R4 went through so many updates it was renamed the 4L60, even though it was the same trans. Bad idea to swap to it. The A340E is a much...
Good to hear you didn't spend the money then.
Yes, there are contacts inside that tell the ECU your foot is not on the accelerator pedal, and it needs to be at idle speed. Toyota gives an ohm reading to make in the repair manual.
I don't think it is the best way, voltage would be, but...
If your engine is lugging with A/C, you lost the signal to the ECU indicating A/C operation. That often induces stalling when stopped.
And you could have a weak engine also. Any car will have a noticable drop in output when the A/C is from the parasitic drag. How bad is another story.
51 isn't a faulty TPS or wiring. Sorry you wasted money like that with the idle contacts out of adjustment. You notice the screws holding them in place right?
Because the redline is not from the crankshaft....it is for the entire engine configuration, notably valvetrain. And early fuel cut was 6750, redline was 6500.
Perhaps he wanted it done right.
The cylinder head gasket kit retails for about $400, labor to have the head and block decked, labor to reasemble, could easily reach $2500. I sure hope he had all that done for the money he spent though.
Just don't have the block bored until you are ready to assemble.
When you do reach that point, wash the block, especially the bores with soapy water. Then dry them out and assemble. And no, don't put lube behind the bearing. Lubriplate 105 also works very well. Being more solid than oil, you...
You are getting rid of your A/C because you don't have a belt?
The compressor comes off with 4 bolts. The hoses disconnect before the firewall and on the compressor. Remove the reciever/dryer from the front of the car near the radiator. It looks like a mini water heater with a sight glass on...
Yes you could have a faulty ignition. The coil pack is a waste fire system, and they fire in pairs. So if you have a circuit problem, two cylinders will be down.
This ins't common though.
That is certainly stand alone territory. I know Mike Malloy made a shitload of horsepower with MAFT-Pro, so that is a testament to its usability as a piggy back.
It is up to you, but if you want that kind of power and reliability, you are going to spend some money.
