I don't care what engine you guys put in your cars. The threads of screwed up JZ's are getting numerous. The problem is the owner and where they have it repaired.
Case in point;
It is even funnier when a "GM World Class Technician" call is Dextron. But to be fair, that just means he is also certified in body shop. As though people that pull dents and paint also work on things that use hexidecimal language. The guy is kind of a riot with things he says.
I saw a tech install a headgasket upside down once. It almost fit perfect and he just didn't notice. He was good at his job. It can happen to anybody. Almost everything lined up and it wasn't noticed. Until he started it and got to redo it for free.
That has nothing to do with luck.
So do all engines, including the JZ series. If you take away the oil....
Again, that is true of any engine with an iron block and aluminum head. It is what dissimilar metals do. In fact, that is the basis for turn signals and circuit breakers.
I...
Dish soap and water. And something along the lines of a toilet brush to clean with. You are long past that point. I haven't seen your oil. I can only guess based on gray being iron. Have you ever seen a magnetic drain plug?
Gray is just dirty. Most here (from what I read) fail to wash the engine when it comes back from the machine shop. Other possibilites are bearing wipe from failure to lubricate properly when rebuilding, or failure to prime the oil pump and/or pack it.
My comment to you wasn't really to you. I wanted to drive the point home to him shift timing is controlled by Trans PCM, and it makes its determination from the speed sensor and throttle position sensor.
I was going to ask if he thinks he can cheat. It is a ND pump afterall.
If he isn't winning, he is the only one that isn't cheating. I have the Boss Jr with a 57 T04E and the original fuel pump.
I challenged a (real) F40 with a customers Camry that I had just finished (engine rebuild). Not that the 5SFE had a chance. But he punched and was gone.
