No it's not, it's a pipe leading into a larger pipe. The first pipe is the same size as the throttlebody and it leads into a larger tank. It also makes plenty of sense as it has to go around the distributor.

It looks to be repainted and just worn (single stage lasts maybe 5 years out in the elements).

Yep, you've done nearly everything humanly possible to reduce heat in your engine bay. The average joe, not so much and it would be better off on the other side of the engine bay (as the catch can is really a condenser for oil vapors).

mibrum posted that, it's been posted elsewhere on the site as well. It's a solid rear axle, so it's not a "true" MKIII anymore...
