I'm pretty sure the leaks won't care which state you're driving in. Leaking how? Externally or internally? Either will cause a loss of fuel system rest pressure and could result in hard starting. External leaks could result in an opportunity for breaking out the marshmellows. ;)

The odds are very slim it'll do one without the other so you need to make absolutely sure it's not stepping back a few seconds after engine shutdown. Have someone stand there and listen or open your hood and window and listen carefully.
