    Oil filter threads?

I try to do the same as I dislike being wrong but it still happens. I was puzzled by his claim as I've been a half-assed machinist for years and an automotive tribology freak for even longer. Still, what he said made sense so I had to check. That said I've already learned you're the king when it...

    ISC Valve replacement.

figgie, good job. I'll take your word for it and stand corrected. Unipolar huh? In my defense all I can say is I have more experience with DC servo loops than steppers. You're right, it steps back 125 to full open but has twice that range. I was pulling much of that from memory so that'll teach...

    Oil filter threads?

Well, it was a hassle but I had to know so I went and measured it too using my thread gauges. The pitch is 16 tpi. Further, using wire gauges to measure the major and minor diameters and checking in my copy of Machinery's Handbook, they correspond to 3/4-16.

    ISC Valve replacement.

Well, if the ISC valve clicks then yes, give the man a cigar ;). The ISC valve has no "positional feedback" ie, whenever the ECU tells it to step X number of steps it assumes it actually moved but has no way of verifying it. While it's true the ISC system is a closed feedback loop, it's closed...

    Oil filter threads?

Well what do ya know, learn something new everyday. I've never measured it but what you say make sense. The stickler is every filter reference you look up (including Denso's) and after market oil mount specs say it's 3/4-16. Go figure. As you said, the 18X1.5 metric fine thread is pretty close...

    Tems

Yep, in the stock trim it only goes on under the conditions mentioned ie; anti-dive, anti-squat, and anti-roll. Anti-dive is sensed off the brake pedal switch, anti-squat off the TPS, and anti-roll off off the steering wheel optical sensor. In normal mode the sport mode (2 lights) will...

    Fuel Pressure

Two good posts shaeff. The FPU VSV is active only during hot starts. The ECU samples the coolant sensor and opens the FPR vacuum port to atmosphere for 60-90 seconds after starting This increases the fuel pressure to clear any vapor and helps in a smooth idle for a few minutes. After appx...

    Oil filter threads?

Yeah, that'll work. As far as I know every Toyota made since the mid 70's uses 3/4-16 filter threads.

    Tachometer sensor wire?

What tubbie said. Or use the connection in the check connector. All this is assuming you're talking about a tach without it's own sensor.

    Oil filter threads?

3/4-16. And listen to MDC....the man knows his filters.

I just bought a catch can...

That'd work on an N/A but better to stick with the TB port rather than the intake manifold. On a turbo you could connect the valve covers to one port on the can and the other port to the accordian where the stock line went. Still not the best set up but an OK compromise. Always consider what the...

I just bought a catch can...

What Shaeff said. In the stock turbo configuration the flow is from the head to the TB when the manifold is below ambient pressure. When above ambient the flow is from the head to the accordian. That's why the plumbing is different for turbos versus N/As. N/As never get above ambient so they...

why do people buy cheep intercoolers ?

Nucleur? It's spelled "nookular" ;). Yeah, I suppose since I'm a technical guy I tend to be more anal than most but as I said it's a matter of taking pride in what you do. Not to mention it makes life easier for those being asked. The way I see it a poster owes it to those he's asking to at...

why do people buy cheep intercoolers ?

Amen. Medical issues aside (and accepting everyone makes mistakes), if you're old enough to drive you're old enough to make a minimal effort at spelling and grammar. Writing is crafting, no different than crafting anything using your brain and hands. Take some pride in it. Otherwise you'll come...

    Help with timing!!!!

Why would someone know better than the engineers who designed the engine? Set it at 10 btdc with the diag block shorted and be happy.

    "Reputation"

Yeah, it does ;). I don't know how I missed it for so long. How does one go about leaving comments like that? I don't see anything in threads or the menu.
