    A/C recharge

CPT: I'm typed in several aircraft. I currently operate the Canadair Regional Jet for work and the Aero Vodochody L-39 seen in my avatar for fun. In addition I occasionally fly a Lear 35 and CitationJet for a former employer. I'm not familiar with the Autozone stuff so I can't comment on it...

    Stock idle rpm?

That's funny. I don't recall saying that you said the procedure to adjusting the idle was in the basic owner's manual. Or in any manaual for that matter. Either quote me correctly or not at all. I don't appreciate being taken out of context, please and thank you. My explanation isn't for...

No, can't use 100% 142. It's pressure/temp relationship is lousy for MVAC. It's used in F12 only to carry the oil. I was only giving you the scoop on why you should avoid it. Either stay with R12 or convert. I did some checking and it seems the Supra handles conversion to 134 very well so you'll...

Power steering pump Issues after Rack replacment

Oh, oh....he's got the filter bug ;). Smart move as auto trannys are one of the most neglected systems on a car and yet one of the most expensive to repair. The Magnafine would be the quick way out and they last a long time if you start with clean fluid. I'd recommend starting with a fluid...

    A/C recharge

Freeze 12 will work but here's what they don't tell you. Stay with me because this requires a bit of thought. Remember how I said the refrigerant must carry oil around the system in order to lube the compressor? Well, different refrigerants require different oils. Not all oils are miscible in...

    A/C recharge

Slamming a charge in is quick and dirty Joel, no doubt about it. The problem is with the price of the stuff you don't want it to leak out again anytime soon. Maybe he should buy a 30 pounder ;) Johnathan: You take the 609 MVAC test. It's the only one you can take online. Forget R13, it's not...

    A/C recharge

Sigh....don't make me come down there just to slap you ;). Of course you can buy it. There is plenty of CFC-12 around but some stores may only stock the 30 pound cylinders. You want the 12 or 14 ounce cans. But they won't sell you either without a 609 license so get it on ebay or convert to...

    A/C recharge

Yeah sorry, even though I fly for free I couldn't drag all that gear aboard so I'd have to either drive or fly my own down and with the cost of fuel these days well, you don't wanna know ;) You can buy R 12 on ebay as long as you find a seller that will offer to let you sign a resell statement...

Eh, I see now it says "So Cali". Sorry, I'm a long way from there. I'll do what I can from here though if you decide to tackle it yourself.

    weird coolant leak

Lol, I can see how moving from the Jurassic Jet would be a big step. No time in those either. I'm typed in the 73, 75/76, Lear 35, CitationJet, and CRJ. I know what happened to that A300 but it's exactly the old school in me that expects full deflection below Va isn't going to cause structural...

has any one taken apar the black box on the afm

Jdub: Yeah, I've gone back to the stock setup with a WIX. I might try the PureOne in the future. Fwiw I had the same kind of oil analysis results when using the Bracket oiled filter verus stock paper on a few airplanes too. In all fairness to Shaeff we were talking about the K&N. Based on that...

A vacuum cleaner and some guy shaking dirt over it? That test is a joke. Try a real one: http://tinyurl.com/ozs7f The bottom line is, as with oil filters, you have to decide between flow and filtration. But unlike an oil filter, which opens it's bypass when restricted, even the most...

All I have is 30 pounders and they go for about $450. I'm not crazy enough to pay for the little cans from an auto store. I can't legally sell it to you unless you're licensed but there's a way around that. If you sign a statement you're going to resell you can buy without being certified. It...

Jdub, use what you want. I'm not going to get into the K&N thing, it's just another example of people not knowing what they don't know. Do your homework and you'll see why they're not only useless (as are all so called high flow filters) but they do nothing but harm to your engine, especially if...

Thats true. Lol, you don't even need these refrigerants. Propane works excellent as one. Not safe, but it works great ;)

Some cars respond better to conversion than others. The Supra is probably OK because it's an older robust system with a decent charge unlike today's cars which were designed for 134 and have dinky charges. I stick with 12 because I have 30 pounds of it lying around and some of my other cars also...

    weird coolant leak

Got it. I keep forgetting about the WX you have out there. Mine never has to deal with that so I never see the cap break pressure. Runs perfect in all conditions. I have zero time in Buses but no one I know likes them much. Not that I wouldn't trust the magic (it's everywhere these days) it's...

Fair nuff but CK seems to have missed the point: Knowing whether Nash is or isn't has nothing to do with anything.

It works only with guys like Supra5 who're smart enough to have an open mind and check their egos at the door. That's something more vaulable than we could ever teach him ;)

K&N's are just plain bad period. If you insist on using one the less you clean it the better. Why do you think your AFM needs cleaning? Did you test it? You need to be very careful just shooting anything up there. It needs to leave zero residue and still not destroy plastics. Refrigerant is a...
