Help me diagnose what is wrong with my 88 7mgte!

Meh, you'll do OK. Sorry to be a bit hard on you but if you come across as helpless many knowledgeable people will pass you by. Show them you're making an effort, even a small one, to help yourself and they'll be happy to help you more. It's human nature. At least this human...

Help me diagnose what is wrong with my 88 7mgte!

Lol no, no more boost, but it'll remove stress on your turbo. You need to fix the codes too. One miracle at a time...

Help me diagnose what is wrong with my 88 7mgte!

supra4: I saw the photo. How do you think I know what the hose is for? Underneath the intake manifold there is a mess of little piping, a vacuum distribution sort of deal. It gets fed from the left end of the intake manifold by a small 90 degree hose. Lots of things connect to this vacuum...

    overheating problem

Well, you have to define overheating. If it's puking coolant out the overflow tank it's not normal. The pressure valve in the radiator cap should never relieve after shutdown. If it does that's a sign the system is over pressurized, usually by combustion gases. The beginning stages of a BHG will...

Help me diagnose what is wrong with my 88 7mgte!

Yeah, screws that stick up on the engine need to be connected to hoses. Come on son, I understand you're new at this but if you're old enough to drive you're old enough not to be this much of an idiot. If there isn't a fitting sticking up below the TPS the hose will need to be connected...

Help me diagnose what is wrong with my 88 7mgte!

Man, this thread is painful to read. It's not a coolant hose. It's the hose that runs your compressor bypass valve. Look down behind the TPS and you should see a connection for it sticking up. If it's not there someone has left out the vacuum manifold that is bolted under the intake. If so...

knock sensors and what do they do

I dunno know about you but I'm desperately trying to avoid doing some ;)

    WTF?90 degree coolant hose...

Lol, you guessed it. Some VWs too. Wtf is up with that? Must be the connection. Nice car btw. As long as I don't have to wrench on them ;)

    WTF?90 degree coolant hose...

You should try working on German engineering, an oxymoron if I ever heard one. Some of them require the entire front of the car be removed to change a timing belt. A Delorean will also test your patience. The MKIII is a cakewalk.

    ahhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!

Another satisfied customer. If it's burning oil you can expect the plugs to be fouled and the oil black. Sounds like whomever did the overhaul didn't know what they were doing. I'm curious, where does a 17 year old get 4 kilobux to blow on an engine? Man, times sure have changed...

    WTF?90 degree coolant hose...

Pretty simple compared to some modern stuff. After all the technology is 20 years old. The cooler is the gadget with the cover and all the bolts at the rear of the head. Leaks in the cover gasket are a fairly common occurrence and can affect the O2 sensor in addition to jetting gas on the...

    WTF?90 degree coolant hose...

Assuming you still have one if the EGR cooler is leaking it can jet exhaust onto that hose.

    Uh-Oh Waterfall!

Straight water has a lower boiling point but will transfer heat better than a EG/water mixture. In fact water is the standard of thermal conductivity against which all other liquids are measured. It provides very poor freezing and (as you pointed out) corrosion protection though. Someone would...

    fuel pump!! need help fast!!

Well, jumper the pump in the diag block and see if it starts. Or listen to the rail. Or pop the cap off the dampener and look at the screw. Do something to prove fuel pressure.

    Finished Rebuild (PICS!!!)

Lol, tough crowd. I think it looks OK. I'd get rid of that blue coupler though. Hooking the FPR to ported vacuum is a bad idea...

    overheating problem

^ I'm with stupid ;) Highway? Traffic? Just after reducing speed? Just after shutdown? What is the temp gage behavior when it happens? Can you reduce temperature using the heater? Gurgling? Appearance of gas (tiny bubbles) or foam in the coolant? Any coolant loss from day to day? I fail to see...

I'm the dumbest supra owner ever

Yikes. I never thought you'd really go the dealer route but it's your car, your money, your choice. Fwiw I would've sold you one for a lot less and trust me, it would have been as good as new. I would've even calibrated it for you. Glad you got it working though. PS: It's not a MAF ;)

Cold Start Drivability/ Hesitation and backfire

The coolant temp controls both warm up enrichment and idle speed. That's why I asked what the idle was and suggest you replace the coolant sensor. Now it seems you have a further ISC system problem. Fwiw that can't involve the cold start injector time switch. If you're having a cold start...
