The Eddy/Foucault current drain is not needed for the ignition system to operate but you should put it on to prevent heating and possible coil crosstalk. It goes to the small hole in the head to the left of the coil plate. If the engine does weird stuff without it you have other problems.
Equal values of resistance in series are additive, in parallel (as the formula shows) divided. For example two 10 ohm in series would be 20 ohms while two in parallel would be 5 ohms. Two in parallel would lower the wattage dissipated only because it'd lower the resistance ie; the pump would be...
Yeah, I explain how it works and that gets posted. Amazing. There's been a huge amount of stupidity around here lately. For the last few weeks it's been post after post of nonsense. It's why I took a break. Perhaps it's time for another.
Colin is right. The TB port should be capped. The tree gets fed from the intake manifold but the EGR tube is independent. It has to be because it's ported vacuum. Same with the BVSV port.
Dub: Fwiw my 87 has the BVSV.
When the coolant is hot the ECU disconnects the fuel regulator from engine vacuum and bleeds it to atmospheric pressure for about 2 minutes after a hot start. It does this by using a three way vacuum switching valve located under the intake manifold. This raises fuel pressure and clears any...
The gages should be connected directly to the intake manifold. That way they won't be effected by the Fuel Pressure Up system, which appears to not be working correctly.
It'd help if you were clearer about just what you're trying to resolve. Your first post mentions code 51 and refers to the knock sensors which set code 52. Which code do you actually have? For 51 see my post in the SME Electrical Section. For 52 search.
Yeah, I don't get why he's all excited unless it's simply because he passed. None of what he listed effects emissions and the numbers show his engine isn't running right. Ignorance is bliss I guess...
I happened to have that photo from a few months back. It's all about maintenance. Having control of the car since day one helps too. Should have taken a pic of the spare. It's never been on the car. Still has 1987 air in it ;)
Well, they have a legitimate point. Dealer techs aren't trained to work on modded cars and unless you have the ability to do it yourself it's a crap shoot to mod one. Sounds like the fuel pump relay is bad. That's assuming you haven't wired the pump for 12 volts. Try jumpering B to FP. If the...
