My opinion of Shaftmasters 2 piece shaft

I can promise you Advance doesn't carry that grade bolt ;) And they are $3 each from Toyota iirc (that is if they are the same as the ones for the differential)

My opinion of Shaftmasters 2 piece shaft

Jay - Just so you know...that center bearing only had 5K miles on it. It's as good as new ;) I suspected my rear shaft had unscrewed itself...that's why I purchased the Jaws single piece to begin with. When David made me the offer to test their single piece, I couldn't turn it down. Glad...

    LSD Rear diff question

The side shafts are a bit different for the Torsen vs the USDM clutch type LSD's.

Unusual, rather loud, POP noise during boost leak test?

There's a check valve under the ISCV on a turbo motor. If you popped it, you could have a boost leak...the severity will depend on the how much it leaks. The hose attached will not leak (unless it's bad too) and the boost that does get past the check valve is metered air flowing right back to...

    low rpm knock advice

Based on what you just said...my money is on the drive plate ;) Cracked or a bandit bolt...busting a TC is not too common. Edit: BTW - running a 0W or 5W-30 oil is not going to hurt ya with those pressures...I'm betting your bearing clearances are nice and tight. It will actually help...

    Carbon Fiber Driveshaft pics

The good thing about snapping a CF driveshaft (it takes a lot to do so BTW)...you have a broom under your car instead of a blender blade ;)

    low rpm knock advice

;) Yeah...I saw that. I'll be PM'ing ya in the future.

    low rpm knock advice

Whoa Guys ;) We don't know what condition the bearings are in and what the clearances are. He's showing 60 psi at idle cold...40 psi hot, even running a 20W-50 wouldn't make it cause a low rpm knocking noise. He's getting plenty of flow...the high pressures he's showing at idle and cruise...

    Oil Drop on Accel

A clogged filter will go into bypass...it will not cause this. Unless you're running a crappy filter like a Fram...and even then, your pressure would be high due to the restriction. I'd change the oil and filter as suggested and fill to the top line on the dipstick...then add a quart. You...

Is Using 20W-50 Oil Good For Your Motor?

Wow...you got a lot going on with this motor ;) Whatever happened to your oil cooler circuit, 10-15 psi at any speed much above idle is bad...you very well could have FUBAR'ed the bearings. The TRSM looks at hot oil pressure at idle & 3000 rpm...your idle is actually ok per the manual, but...

    2 Piece Driveshaft from Shaftmasters

True statement! And if you think about what you're getting, (a new center bearing + u-joints + balance), the price is very reasonable. After seeing the one piece David and Robert made for me, there's no doubt in my mind the quality will be excellent. In fact, I want to thank these guys for...

Where do I hoist a short block with tranny at being in the car still?

Unbolting the tranny is not a bad idea...a lot of weight there.

Where do I hoist a short block with tranny at being in the car still?

Ahhh...yeah, I saw that ;) Try M14x1.5 bolts...get good ones you can screw in deep as possible. I would use a safety chain around the bottom of the block or attached to the motor mounts in this case.

Where do I hoist a short block with tranny at being in the car still?

There's gotta be two pair you can use...what the heck happened?

Where do I hoist a short block with tranny at being in the car still?

Two head bolts in the back...two in the front with a short piece of chain in between each ;)
