1j Starts but wont idle without throttle+ Idle fixed now engine misfire

My apologies for posting 'bad' advice. How is what I suggested a bad idea? Not trying to be defensive or anything, but all that serves to do is mechanically hold open the throttle via a screw, same way your foot would if you press the throttle lightly. Works fine for me, and actually smoothed...

    Is it even worth fixing?

Very much agreeing with Mario on this. I bought my 89 because it had some cool parts and was a turbo 5speed. Paid WAY too much for it. What I should have done was buy my 88 back from my roommate (for about 1/3 of what I paid for the 89), and done the 1j swap that I ended up doing anyway. Instead...

    Overheating issues

Hmm... makes sense. My car never came with one when I bought it, nor did it have an under tray. The tray has been on my list of things to get at some point, think I might reinstall that seal too. I stand corrected. JJ, what are your thoughts on the Stout hood's ability to alleviate heat?

    hatch leak hummmmm

I'll be getting some of that automotive Goop this week and trying to seal up all the areas mentioned in this thread, testing them this weekend hopefully, if I get the time. I have a few ideas on where the water's getting in on mine, I'll post up any findings if anything interesting comes up. :)

    FORUM WARS!!!! Whose In?

If they weren't all the way over in Cali I'd be in for something like that... my car's pretty well setup for a well rounded car. :)

1j Starts but wont idle without throttle+ Idle fixed now engine misfire

This is your throttle body area. See the big nut on the upper left of the throttle body, where it bolts to the manifold? See the little set screw just to the left of that? Turn that in until it pushes your throttle open just a bit. Should fix your problem with idling, your ISCV is likely bad. ;)

    shakey hood

My hood likes to randomly pop itself up on occasion, due to how bumpy I80 is around here. The hood latch itself can be adjusted up a small bit. So can the rubber stoppers that your hood hits on the way down. Unfortunately mine are a bit screwed up and don't like to adjust any further down, so I...

    FORUM WARS!!!! Whose In?

Update on this? I think Andy (ARZ on here) should put his 240z in. It's Supra *powered*, and he's damn good at autox type stuff. ;)

    hatch leak hummmmm

Hey it's useful info, I'd be willing to bet there are more of us with leaking hatches than those whose hatches are watertight. Question though, while it seems like silicone will fix most of the issues, how likely is the car to leak from the actual hatch seal itself (the big rubber piece that...

**The Mkiii Supra Gas Mileage Thread**

My old 88 n/a hardtop auto, 4.30 lsd, 225/50/16 all seasons, would regularly see upwards of 28-30mpg on highways, about 20 or so in city. Slow as balls though... My 89 7mgte targa 5 speed, 3.73, 275/40/17 Nittos, would see around 25-30 on the highway, about 17-20 city. 57 trim ct26, Apexi...

I think I need an aftermarket performance radiator! If so, what to get?

Err... I didn't have e-fans and mechanical fan on the same car, was talking about two separate Supras here, sorry. :) IJ, mind my asking how you went about controlling your fans? I'm thinking that I have a fixed temperature relay with a bad range for our cars. It comes on at about 118C (only...

    Overheating issues

I discovered the 115C thing about the stock gauge a few months ago... I'm more or less in the same boat as Cyrus here, blown up enough 7m's to be paranoid about that temp gauge haha! It seems to reason that removing the rear seal where the hood meets the firewall is a good way to alleviate heat...

I think I need an aftermarket performance radiator! If so, what to get?

I believe this comes down to a fan issue man. I have a PWR radiator (about as big as you can squeeze into a Mk3), and even though it holds about 2x the coolant as a stock unit, if I'm sitting in traffic for too long, my car likes to try and get hot on me too. Turn on the fans though, and it...
