1st - You don't have a "distributor" - you have a Cam Position Sensor (CPS).
If he replaced it (a very expensive part), the code 12 should have gone away unless wiring was the issue. The RPM input to the ECU is generated by the Ne and G1/G2 pick-ups in the CPS.
2nd - "Fuel injection is...
A code 52 will make you car run with reduced power output, but it won't cause what you described.
I'll give you a hint - the TCCS Fail-Safe for IGf failure (code 14) is fuel injection is stopped ;)
Since there are no codes, I suspect the ISCV. Here's the TSRM link to it:

Check for proper operation and clean the carbon off the valve and valve seat (you will have to disassemble the ISCV to do this).
If...
The fuel mods should have little to no impact running lean at a very specific RPM...if anything, it would run rich with the increased fuel flow and those injectors. The Lucas (disc) type has a faster response time...the ECU expects the slower response from a stock pintle type. You will get...
You want to run Dex III ATF in the PS system...the synthetic types (Mobil 1 is good) will take the heat better. The stock 7M oil cooler makes a great PS cooler...make sure you flush it out 1st though. The rail type transmission coolers are an option or any cooler the approx size of the 7M one...
Something to think about concerning "spirited driving", especially on a road with hard curves and inclines...the oil in the pan will slosh. The oil pump will lower the pan level just by pumping oil through the motor. Lateral G, aggressive braking, and road inclines make it possible the pump...
Likely not...but it could start a crack down on the other end. The ability to get a car passed. Especially if anything looking like a bribe is involved.
Might want to take a look at this thread:

Figgie talks about how lambda is the driving factor for an O2 sensor...and guess what?
Stoich = Lambda 1 and it's the same regardless of the fuel used.
The stock TCCS does have limited...
You should PM/call Aaron over at DriftMotion...pretty sure he will have the answer you seek.
I don't think you will see such info posted in open forum ;)
