With a more open y-pipe, and bigger cams, you may find otherwise :)
There's a guy on SF running 370hp, and over 400ft/lb of torque on stock twins with what I rmember being not much more then a set of cams.
I will agree with you, heat kills these things. You want to get rid of heat, you get...
There should be a hose connected to that, that runs down to the PS pump, then another hose that runs back up from the PS pump to somewhere on the intake manifold. It's an idle up valve that activates when you apply load on the power steering.
My 1JZ MKIII gets sideways guite easily :) Of coruse with the momentum, it stays sideways :(
I would say go with the Supra mainly because I see too many 240s on the roads, especially with SR20s. I don't see a lot of MKIII supras around, even less with a 1JZ in it. It's a unique car to say the...
The forward facing ones (the ones beside the rear seat) are 3" speakers. The ones in the hatch area are 5 1/4" speakers.
Just forget about the back ones, and put a nice pair of 6.5" speakers in the front with some custom brackets (really easy to do).
I'm pretty sure my previous owner was a girl, as the center console smells like perfume when you open it. I dont know though, as the car came overseas.
The one thing I hate about the previous owner, the shifter bushings literally fell appart in the transmission (which is common), but instead...
The PP is held in by 3 pins. It has to be removed perfectly straight, or else the pins will bind, and the PP won't budge. Try going around the edge of the PP with a screwdriver, slowly moving it out as you go around it.
BTW, I got the R154 out with the PP still on the flywheel, but I had to...
Heh, nice signature there Brewster.
The point of the twins was so minimize lag, which it did beautifully. Of course, turbo technology is now 15 years ahead of where it was back in 1990. You can go get a larger single turbo that will get the same response (or a little more laggier), and make...
Heh, I have a friend of a friend that just finished swapping the SR20 into his 240, and the thing is slower then it was with the KA. Although, the two of them that put it in aren't the smartest mechanics in the world, I'm sure something's screwed up.
Anyways, to the OP, you said that the...
OMG, hahaha.
Flaws: The turbos. They blow pretty easily. You can either upgrade them to something bigger, or find a cheap used set as everyone else has already upgraded them :p
Other then that, there's not much in the way of flaws. No major "Watch out for this!" type of flaws.
Why does this sound like a 7M vs 1JZ discussion :)
The SR would be a better engine to put into the car, but would it be a better engine to put into the car for him? A turbo RWD car in the hands of a 16 year old may not be the best idea. I would suggest you leave the KA in there until he's...
