Pressurizing the coolant system is not a bad idea either...especially if you are losing coolant. It will ID any leaks...that's one reason air can get into the coolant system (waterfall sound).
Before you go yanking the head off:
- Go to NAPA and get a block tester to check for exhaust gas in the coolant system
- Do a compression test
- Do a leak down test
The things you described can have other causes.
You can use a piece of 3/8" wire rope (fray the end a bit) and an electric drill to clean out the passage. Just use a shop vac to suck the crap out of the passage after you're done.
You need to be more specific:
- Motor won't turn over? Does the starter engage?
- How do you know the coil fired? You said "coil"...there are 3 dual coils...did you get spark from all of them?
Was there any major work done on this motor before this problem?
ID what you want and get it at the place with the best price ;)
The good thing about the big retailers is they have sales...be patient and you can get a good price.
Good luck finding genuine GI M-14 mags...here's a good read from Fulton Armory on identifying them and good alternatives:

I've shot the Taiwanese magazines (they are still made) and they function quite well. The only real difference is they are...
My thoughts on the double extractor:
- If the chamber size is correct, there can be no over expansion of the shell....I have never seen a Win 1300 or Rem 870 fail to extract.
- Using a mag load (which can cause over expansion) in a home defense round is not a good idea.
One thing I have...
Winchester 1300 Defender here (extended mag) with a wood stock...in today's legal environment, it doesn't look like an "evil" weapon designed to take someone out. A Remington 870 Tactical or Police would be 2nd choice.
A good article on home defense shotguns...
Nash - you want to use a coolant filter, but if you insist, an oil filter will work.
Here's the proper head unit with 11/16-16 filter threads and 3/8" NPT inlet/outlet:

This will fit the Wix 24069 and 24070 coolant filters...
Your bird has escaped from it's cage.
You'll need this card...take it to the nearest Toyota dealer.
(thanks again to the guys I shamelessly stole these pics from)
