The point behind checking the MIL before timing is to:
1) Make sure the system really is in diag mode.
2) Make sure the IDL contact is closed.
A problem with either of those will prevent the system from disabling ESA.
Crack me up. The sensor will bring the mixture back to stoich, same as it was before. How can the idle increase if the mixture is no richer than it was before? There is no increase in load. About all that'll happen is fuel economy will suffer.
Pull off a vacuum hose and try it. For example the...
Right. Being unmetered is why the air is called pirate. The point is idle speed will not increase because no increase in fueling results. Therefore his problem can't be related to induction leaks as has been suggested.
Yes but since they don't normally leak if pressure holds the injector would be verified. That said what he ought to do is a drop test using a pulser. I'm guessing he doesn't have one though.
Probable causes are timing, enrichment, excessive throttle bypass air, or the throttle plate itself is open. Pirate air (induction leaks) do not result in high idle on L Type EFI systems.
Not a shot. Just means what I said in the other thread: back to basics.
Btw if your 51 is TPS related the Idle Speed Control System won't be functional.
