This would be the route I would be going for something like this. Any idea what this engine weighs? I figure it's all alloy, correct? Shouldn't be much heavier (if any at all) than the JZ's... Seems like you're willing to put the money in to make this work, which is good, it's gonna take a bit. ;)
How long are your turbos going to last at that pressure though? Sounds like you're concerned about cost of replacement or time needed to swap out turbos... in which case, I'd suggest running them at a lower pressure for the time being. But, that's just me, it's your car. :)
I'd love to if the closest road course wasn't over 200 miles away, one way... Just pointing out that a Miata is much more fun in every day driving than my Supras have been, for the most part.
Probably the most stable car I've ever had at speed. :)
In addition to Toyota's write up, Megan should have a nice writeup on their site, last I checked... I did a writeup on adjusting height and pre-load on the Track Series Megans a few years back, but I think the original thread was lost at some point. Let me know if you still need it, I should...
Sheesh... hope everything is alright! We don't get weather quite that bad here, just really fucking cold and really fucking windy. Other than that, it's usually alright.
If the weather here passes on to the east, you guys are in for some REALLY nice weather in a few days. ;)
Yeah, we've seen a few of their vids here at work. Bunch of nutters if you ask me. Oh well, whichever one of them dies first will have died having fun, right? :)
Fixed that for ya. ;)
Still... such a bad idea. I have solid mounts in my car, you rev hard just sitting in place, and the car rocks to the right. What's to stop this from dumping your ass if you were dumb enough to do the same?
Some badass cars in there, I wish we had a scene like that. Around here, it's basically the exact opposite: 100 old muscle cars (not that there's anything wrong with that), a few hot rods, and even less imports of any sort.
I can see why you call that Starquest Darth Vader...
If it doesn't fit, a hammer isn't the best answer, unless you're building a demolition derby car... Aluminum block? What's going to happen to that if the thing heats up (engines *do* do that sometimes...), and the steel it's mounted to doesn't wanna move? Something is going to want to give, and...
We have a member on here selling a set of Carillos that are already ready to go, price is nice too. I almost bought them, but went a different route with the head, so I won't be revving past 8k. I can vouch for the Brian Crower 264 cams being VERY streetable in our engines. I've daily driven my...
I had 711's on the Miata for a while. They did just fine in day to day driving, but I took them to Canyon Lake (guess why it's called that?) once or twice, and realized I was going to need new tires. They didn't like heat all that much, and corner after corner after corner, they get hot. If...
Another thing I'll point out, at one point I had both my NA 88 Supra, and a 2000 Miata. They were totally different as far as dynamics go. The Miata would TRASH the Supra in low end acceleration, and basically anywhere else under 100mph. For whatever reason, the Supra really came into it's own...
Ugh... sorry to see Devin. I swear Toyota should sell bus passes to people who buy Camry's. You know damned well, if they cared in the slightest about driving, they wouldn't be buying a Camry... :nono:
Reminds me of the time I saw a Bimmer with "HUMORME" on the plate. Well, I humored him, and he thought I was just messing with him since I kept hitting fuel cut... :p
Is that the biggest difference? If so, it's highly tempting... I've already had 3 or 4 black cars now, but I want to find a color that will work with the carbon fiber front end. I could just paint over it all, but it does look nice as is... I guess I'll just have to see the car put together...
