Aaah the DeLorean DMC-12...i loved that car...well, driving one sucked, but they looked cool! Got stuck in a car park once, sat in the passenger seat. A large car with gullwing doors and car parks do *not* mix!

For your rebuild - those OEM pistons will be fine for 350hp or so. Higher than that and yeah, you'll want forged items and you'll have to have your rods shotpeened at the very least. 350hp is attainable on the CT26 - you just have to push a lot of boost, or alternatively, instead of spending out...

It could just need a good clean - sounds like the track and wiper is a little corroded, or just got years of carbon buildup. I'm sure someone can chime in with the necessary thing to clean it with - i'd say carb cleaner would do a good job though.
