Okay - I just explained what was wrong with going out and buying an un-guaranteed JDM engine. I suggest you read what i wrote.
Erm - $1500 for machine work? Who the hell has been taking you for a ride? It's no WAY that expensive. Ask other people. Hell, it cost me £180 for all the machine...
Yep - whole engine out to do all that. It's not hard to do, and most people manage it with a friend in a few hours.
Erm - if you're going 20 thou oversize, you need the block bored and honed, so that needs to go to a machine shop.
Cheap pistons...well i got a set for $84.95 off ebay, and they...
Erm - with that compression? Thats not considered running fine. More than likely you've got a blown water jacket on the gasket - and DONT run it on a BHG, you'll eventually end up getting water into your oil, even the most minute amount of mixing causes problems.
a JDM engine doesnt guarantee you ANYTHING and recommending it over a cheaper rebuild is just STUPID.

I state 400 as the maximum goal i really want to hit, but thats a few years down the line. I'm doing an engine rebuild and was thinking...
Heh - not looking for massive power, just quick spool and the ability to push 15psi some day...
Wasnt the T28 or the GT28R known as the 'disco potato'?
