They are good engines for highway cruising, especially with stock turbos. Never have to pull out of 5th gear to pass, I love it. Just put ~500 miles on mine this past weekend. :) I believe you had another thread with pics of the swap, did you not?

Drove my car to Cheyenne, WY and back over the course of about 28 hours this weekend. Put around 500 miles on my car, which is about 4 months worth of normal driving. Didn't miss a beat, and managed 25mpg, which is pretty awesome considering the elevation climbs... I can see getting 30mpg out...

The danger of not running one being a potential build up of fuel fumes in the engine bay, correct? I have a length of hose running into the front of the right front wheel area...

How difficult (or effective) would it be to make a brace to the shock tower from either the manifold or turbo? Would likely alleviate some of the stress, no? Assuming of course you were on solid mounts, nobody likes torque twist... It's the bold part I'm wondering about here... by design, a DDP...

In many ways Miatas are similar to Mk3's with consideration to construction, so I wouldn't be surprised if these types of bracing didn't help targa cars out. Short of seam welding, this might be the next best bet. Would like to hear what more experienced members have to say on the theory though...

This. Toyota doesn't make them like they used to. That car will likely outlive you if you keep up on the maintenance. ;)
