General questions for a general thread

Disclaimer on my part, I've never needed to clean a Supra AFM, so you may want to do more digging on the subject before attempting any repairs. As for flushing the radiator, if you go about it with the method I suggested, you leave the car running. Thermostat will open as the engine warms up...

    Another new show project...

Yeah, no shit... I like the idea, but on the other hand, it scares me. I keep trying to tell myself it will perform better than ANY new car for less than half the price of said new car... it helps me sleep at night. :p

Kind of Surprised :) But none the less 2 kills in 10mins

I hear ya, my girlfriend has one. Even on stock suspension and stock tires, they're surprisingly well balanced cars. :)

    1993 Toyota Supra Sales Video

Watched all these last night, good post man, do you have the VHS's these came on? Although, their braking distance on the F40 comparison HAS to be off. There is NO way that they came dead last in that respect...

inspire me with pics of "your" garage...

It's all about how clever you are with the space that you have. Before I bought the house, I had everything I owned (other than the cars themselves, and the spare wheels/tires) in a room of about 75 sq/ft. Weirdly, that was almost enough crap to fill a 1500 sq/ft house. :p I believe this very...

Where the hell have YOU been man? Long time no see!

Ahh... is there a better place to quote "cool story bro?" :p Just kidding man, it's funny how things work out if you let them and don't give up, isn't it? :D Price of a house up there though, sheesh!

So....... how exactly did you get smoked by a GTR then? :p

    Misfire under boost?

Another thing that never hurts to check, your gap on your spark plugs. Make sure they're all close as possible to the same gap, .027-.030 is a pretty good starting point for our engines.

General questions for a general thread

I believe you can pick up a MAF/AFM cleaner at your local parts store. I had to clean the MAF on my SS after installing a VERY oily K&N filter once. We generally use something called "Hondabond". IJ or Jdub have posted what the actual proper name for the stuff is. It's good stuff... As for...

What did you do to your supra today? Pics

I bought Tanabe sway bars for the front and rear, as well as budgeted out the rest of the year. I should be able to buy my entire brake setup, and entire fuel setup, oil cooler/relocation setup, as well as manifold and intercooler bits within a year. Then it's a matter of saving up for the...

    Raptor's Catback with a 1jz MK3.....sound?

Generally speaking, 1jz's are a bit louder, a bit more raspy than a 7m. The sound is my one and only minor regret on the swap.

    1G-GTE GT30 - Single Turbo Conversion

The automatics in these cars can be made to handle some pretty good power levels, but I've always preferred manual myself. As for the 300hp point, depending on the size of the wheels on the turbo you've picked out and the boost levels you intend to run, I can see 300hp out of the 1G. Got...

Should I jump on this? 91 targa turbo, about 80k original miles

IIRC, the turbo Mk3 was (and probably still is) among the quietest of any production car built in it's day. I've had the fortune of driving a car that was stock aside from the brakes and an HKS exhaust. I've been in louder Cadillacs... Sorry to hear the misfortune of the radiator. Similar thing...

    Another new show project...

I'm sure Jeff could be a great help with this project. Really cool Grim, really cool. Reminds me of the "EPA/CARB exempt" stickers that a buddy of mine showed me. I guess they were a dealer's way of listing modifications as being "acceptable". We intend to have a big of fun with one for my car...

help!!! I lock door, I close door, DOOR UNLOCKS :(

Correction, it was pre-88 Supras. My 88 you didn't have to do this. It was pretty common among Japanese cars until the mid-late 80's from what I understand. Have had two friends with 87 FC Rx7's that are the same way.

    stock twin 1jz record

http://www.supramania.com/forums/showthread.php?66742-***SM-Member-Horsepower-List*** The list above is only for people on here, and may or may not be 100% accurate. I laid down 320rwhp with just porting, cams, and a 3" (turbo back, and silenced) exhaust. Everything else is 100% stock. This was...

Kind of Surprised :) But none the less 2 kills in 10mins

I've heard good things about the Mazdaspeed 3's, but there aren't any around here to my knowledge, so I've never had a chance to play with one. I've heard good things about them, but looking at your own 1j dyno graph in your other thread Destrux, it's really not much of a comparison. Gearing and...

    1JZGTE Holset HY35W 14psi 369whp Dyno Run

Not bad not bad, you must be on stock cams for the power to peak that soon, correct? I was a bit surprised to see the torque value higher than the HP, usually it's the other way around on 1j's.

    New owner of 92 Supra

Trust me, Dustin has made that car better in every way so far. Auto -> Manual, 7m -> 2j, twins -> single BB turbo... This guy approves. :)
