    Silicon On Gaskets?

I'm with turbotoy. The only reason I'd use silicone sealer would be if there was damage to the sealing surface (razor blade dug in, corrosion, etc). Paper gaskets work pretty good as long as both surfaces are clean and flat.

    Exhaust help/opinions

I'm running 3" Tanabe Hyper Medallion with a 3" test pipe and I love it. Super quiet, and sounds good at high rpm's too. I'm going to be getting a recirulated DDP soon, so that will round off everything!

    Coolant leak from where??

Is it just water vapor coming out? If so, that's a normal by-product of an internal combustion engine operating. If it's a plume of thick, sweet-smelling white smoke, then you may have a problem!

    Fueling Issues

Yes you answered his question, but it's very hard to understand what you said, the way you said it. You should have included the specifics about what you were talking about. I.E. Rather than saying "That's what I'm running for fp and no codes", you should have said something like: "I'm...

Dumping ALOT of white smoke at idle only. HELP!!

Another thing you can do is watch the coolant level when you're burping the cooling system. If it gushes out you may be dealing with a BHG/loose studs. Oil doesn't always get milky when a HG blows, they can fail in a bunch of differant ways.

New to the 7MGTE + Intro

If the o-ring between the cps and head is leaking, it can be replaced pretty easily and it's not too expensive. No need for a gear unless it's messed up. Just make sure it's not leaking from inside the cps, that can mean trouble.

Whats a good clutch for 550hp?

Every time you press on the clutch, it has to pull on the crankshaft to disengage the clutch disc. All that force is transferred to the block via the thrust bearings. They're little 1/2 circles of metal and they're not that big, so there's a huge amount of force on them when the clutch pedal is...

    Steve's mildly out-of-control build

Well it's good to know I have people around me who actually know what some of the problems that I'll face. So when you say go with AEM, do you mean the full stanalone system and not the plug-n-play as NSX pointed out earlier, or have I missed something? What do you mean "cheap out" MK3...

    Steve's mildly out-of-control build

Thanks for the compliments! MA71- Yeah, the PO tried to heli-coil the exhaust studs, but failed miserably, the 3 rear exhaust manifold bolts were either loose or not even there. It sounded like an old RV with the tick from the leak. If you look close, you can see that the RH motor mount fell...

    Steve's mildly out-of-control build

Thanks! I think I'm going to go with the TBB Boss SR. seeing as it is bolt-on and will match up to my downpipe. Now the question is which one to get? Stage 5 T04E 61 or GT61, or the P-trim T04E 61? I'll have to talk with people and search some more to find out what the differences are and which...

    Steve's mildly out-of-control build

My name is Steve, and this is the build-up of my 1991 Toyota Supra Turbo. In October of 08, I traded my 93 auto Corolla with 205k for a 91 5-speed Supra turbo with 195k. I had $1200 into the corolla and he gave me $300 cash, so I got a Turbo Supra for $900. The problem was the Supra didn't run...

    Intercooler cleaning possible?

x3 on the Castrol eating aluminum. A friend of mine just wrecked 4 perfectly good 4agze pistons by using super clean while trying to de-carbon them a month ago. It's good for cleaning the garage floor, but bad for cleaning engine parts! I used gas every time I cleaned my MR2's intercooler (now...

    engine help, 98-02 corollas??

Sounds like you blew your motor, but they are SUPER easy to replace, especially the automatics. You probably spun a bearing which got steadily worse as you drove on. I've seen it before with these early 1ZZFE engines. Expect $1000 for a good used engine.

88 Targa 7MGTE rebuild, By muzy

That's really wierd about the cps drive gear wear. It's not even on the drive side of the teeth. Does the cps gear have the same wear pattern?

Who's car is runing right now

Mine runs, but I will not allow it to run for long, I don't trust the poor worksmanship of the previous owner. Loose and missing bolts/nuts everywhere... Formulating my plan for the build.
