    funky_monkey58's build thread.

Another one? What are you doing to it now? Dual pickups/teeth counts for better resolution at high rpms?

    Steve's mildly out-of-control build

Thanks Sean! Aside from the turbo oil feed boss, I'm really happy with how it turned out. Now it's just time to get it together!

    Steve's mildly out-of-control build

Yeah, it looks really good now. I have to say- I'm not usually a detail/finish oriented guy, but something about this car has been changing that part of me. Anyways, it's on the stand and ready for assembly and final measurements! Official engine build begins tomorrow!

    funky_monkey58's build thread.

The Celica was just a "warmup" engine, then. ;) Raise that fuel cut and have some more nascar fun! Ah, so I might just have a chance still! I'm beginning assembly and measurement tomorrow, if I can get my hands on my buddy's torque wrench. If not, it'll just keep my basement looking awesome...

Well, She's hurt :'( -Mystery of the sudden #2 no-compression misfire solved

No, I think that one of those "speed holes" that is supposed to increase exhaust flow :sarcasm: Impressive chunk, though.

Ah, Rob finally enters the power tools world. Air compressor FTW, Kickass heater FTMFW, and lights to see your beer with. Excellent job, give me a call if you guys plan on working on anything tomorrow, I might just be convinced to make a drive north :)

    Steve's mildly out-of-control build

So after 3 months waiting for parts, machining, and some more waiting for parts, I finally have my engine back. Not much done yet, as I'm painting the block so it's nice and pretty! The coating on the bearings is cool, too- dry film lubricant is something of a mystery to me, yet... Anyways...

Dropped the valvesprings off at the machine shop an hour ago, so it's t-21 hours till pickup! For the next two nights, I'll be measuring, documenting, assembling, adjusting and sealing it all up! :biglaugh:

    Steve's mildly out-of-control build

Ah, I knew someone was going see that. If you look at where I mounted the horns, there are threads sticking out from the bottom of the latch... I welded the mount onto the vertical support, and it bolts onto the latch from behind. :biglaugh: Holds the latch nice and firm. If it ever becomes an...

    Steve's mildly out-of-control build

I got bummed that I really didn't do much this weekend, so I ran the new injector leads, and they're ready to tie into the vehicle's connector when the AEM goes in.

    Steve's mildly out-of-control build

I was lazy this weekend and only got the intercooler mounted, no plumbing yet. Also started dismantling the wire harness to run the 4,5,6 injector wires to the harness ends, but I didn't get too far- I can't seem to find the spare wire harness from my corolla to use for terminals. Oh well...

    front crank seal damage

I don't think they meant to be misleading, I'm sure my parts guys would give you the same quote if you asked them for a crank pulley. Most people refer to it as the crank pulley and not the harmonic balancer. You just need to specify that you need the lower timing belt gear. Again, its proper...

    Steve's mildly out-of-control build

I DO have the harness staring at me, as I stare at the wiring diagrams... Only problem I see is that connector C is on the vehicle harness, not in on the engine harness. I'm guessing you just mean running the new wires through the harness and leave a terminal haning at the end?

    Steve's mildly out-of-control build

Progress FTW! I also don't work tomorrow so I expect to have the intercooler mounted securely and piping begun. Kinda hard with no engine, but I can at least get the basics covered...
