Helicoils are quite short and for peace of mind I'd wind the 1st one in almost to the bottom then wind a couple more in.

Helicoil x 2>3 would be the better option.
There's not a lot of meat in the head for a bigger stud and even then there's less room for a bigger nut and washer.

You don't have many options, new is a joke price wise and ATI's is a bit pricy.

I use a small pair of wire cutters and squash the end of the rivet then pull it out the other side.
It works perfectly and doesn't mark the gasket at all.

I just pull #1 plug slide a chopstick in then turn the crank slowly watching the chopstick rise, when it stops check the timing mark, if the pully is ok it'll line up with the 0 on the timing case.

If you pull the head now you'll have to totally strip the Viton using paint thinner.
Check the head for straightness/flatness using a machinists straight edge and feeler gauges.
Wash the head and Deck surfaces with thinner.
