If the Lift lifts by the body you may have missed any "play" in the bushes, there is a spherical bearing in the Upright that can cause what you describe, Tires wouldn't make this happen unless they're seriously underinflated.
Can't see how it would get compressor surge?
Worst case scenario is it fails closed and the motor won't make power so safe enough.
I was impressed how the butterfly is chamfered on the edges so it closes properly.
It will run fine just think of it as a GTE that never makes boost ;)
(might be a bit noisy though if you leave the GTE exhaust on it as the Turbo pulls quite a few Db out of it)
Had a play around with mine the other day while the CNC was doing it's thing ;)
Hooked it up to a mini reg and now I understand why SP used such a large actuator!
It's opens easily at the barest hint of pressure, this also explains why they suggest using a solenoid to control it as it...
I use it as assembly lube when I build an engine it's a Moly Grease with a high melting point and seems to work very well with poly, don't know about "magic" though maybe that what all the kids with the fast NA's are using for top end runs ;)
I ran the .68 5th in my TKO with 4.30, 4.10 and 4.11 diff gears and with tall tires it was getting up there ratio wise to what a 3.0L in a fat car is happy to cruise at.
.66 should work ok just remember it's a tiny pair of cogs and won't take a lot of abuse if you have a lot of power.
Still damn expensive here for the hardware but people are getting great results using it, it's at least 104 octane and you can make great power if tuned correctly.
