Trim down the plastic plunger that the cable pulls = end of gas door hassles it only needs 1mm of engagement to latch....
Mine is based on practical experience trying to start a Crower injected 12.5:1 440Ci BBC, I ran the ground through the chassis and would trash a starter per week until I ran a second dedicated ground cable, following that it became a non issue.

I was running NGK Coppers heat range 7 gapped at 22 thou.
No I try to run my car as I do in the real world and spraying the IC isn't really practical (or needed being a 4" core)
There are limits to what you can achieve using a piggyback as you don't really have full control and who knows...
