Anyone want to buy a used 7m coilpack and ngk wires?
I don't need them anymore because IT FUCKIN WORKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :aigo: :icon_bigg  :naughty: :icon_surp :evil2: :aigo: :naughty: :biglaugh:
I now have two 7m-gte ignitors running a set of 1j coils and it works...
That is a very origional, "cool" idea! I really like fresh new ideas that use some inginuity like yours did. Nice job!
The only thing I am concerned about is if this will offer enough increase in airflow that the Flexalite fans will be ok. Flexalite fans can barely keep a 1j cool in 70deg...
We have been having a problem with the Mozilla browser not liking our site's main page. Are you using Mozilla?
The A342 Supra has a two button switch where the ect pwr switch would normally be and it has a power or manual function for the transmission.
I have a 1990 targa with 1j swap and a342, it's freakin great. It shifts awesome, launches good and it will hold the gear you're in all the way to redline. I did it so my wife could drive it but it's so fun to drive I have been driving it most of the time. I don't know how much power it can...
I messed around a little more with it today. I checked that I had all the right outputs going to the correct cylinders. Checked for good 12v ignition power. Grounded both units to the origional mounting bracket. Got it to run but it's a bad idle like few coil wires were in the wrong order. I...
If the manifold has never been removed, it probably will not leak but as soon as you remove and reinstall it and retorque the nuts, you have about a 50/50 chance of one stripping before you reach the required torque. The rear 3 are the worst. I will never reinstall a 7m exhaust manifold again...
Well.... I wish I had better news to report. It runs, but barely. I am going to check all the inputs and outputs with my oscilliscope to see where the problem lies. I think I might have to have to build a buffer circuit for the ecu outputs iga, igb and igt in order to run the two ignitors in...
No problem bro. You have been very helpfull. Maybe it broke because the car only turned left and the right side of the MSD unit overheated? hehe
I guess deep down am a little bit of a cheapass but I like to find inexpensive ways to tackle expensive projects by using some inginuity. I have more...
I have an extra set available, let me see if this works out and I can maybe sell a set. BTW, they don't have any mounting provisions, I welded studs to the center cover on the head and used a nut in the center of each coilpack. My beta test harness is halfway done already. :naughty:
I have owned msd and crane ignition systems and both were reliable, even in a high vibration off-road environment. I've seen poorly installed/wired MSD units fail. The HKS unit does not need any adaptors because it just uses transistors to switch capacitors to the coil primary wires to increase...
Ok, I did some more research and I talked to a tech at MSD today too. The dwell time is not long enough AND the output current is not high enough from the stock 7m ignitor for it to fire the paralleled 1j coils. The MSD DIS-4 HO can interface with the stock ignitor, they have an inexpensive tach...
I kinda do want to use them, as irrational or rediculous as it may be. Would 3 ignition amplifiers fix the problem? Please explain the CDI or DLI equipment, if you don't mind. So is the problem that the output from the 7m ignitor is not on long enough per cycle to charge the coils fully?
Ok, now I feel better (but I do feel bad for you). No turbo, no matter who built it, can withstand kibbles and bits being fed through it. LOL I thought it was less likely to see poor quality PT work cause a failure then some unforseen accident like that.
