You can adjust your clutch if you want too, so that it catches a little more towards the bottom or middle.
As far as the noise. It's going to be hard to diagnose without a video or sound clip of said noise.

The auto may last a little while for you if you install a good tranny cooler, but I wouldn't look for it to last too...
