I would think it would have to leak out through a cut in the hose to leak under no pressure. Does he have someont that can help him bleed the slave cylinder? Maybe he can check it for leaks before you go pick it up.

Are you running stock ecu?

When was the last time you had them flowtested? If I had one that hadn't been dropped, then I would replace the dropped one, but it's also not that expensive to send them off and have them charted. It's probably fifty dollars and a one week turnaround, but well worth it. Good luck.
