:biglaugh: Thanks man, I'm no pro at welding but it was lot easier to make one and then have it coppied the way I wanted then to try to explain it to someone else.
That manifold was made in one night after work with under $20 total in parts, the real one will be nice stainless mandrel bends and stainless flanges made by a professional.
I love my JIC FLT-A2 coilovers! I have ST springs and stock shocks with tems set on high for my other car and it's not too bad at all, but there is a BIG difference in the way they handle under "spirited" driving conditions. If you can afford it, good coilovers are worth the money. Bilstein...
If the only thing you notice between a stock 280whp 1jz and a stock 7m with a little higher boost making 280whp is the power output then you are a lost cause and I AM going to add you to my ignore list.
How about:
throttle response?
turbo lag?
the redline?
how smooth it feels?
how it...
Of course 1jz engines have parts that can fail, just like with any used engine over 10 years old that makes the kind of horsepower ours do, BUT, the 1jz issues are all external parts that are easy to replace and don't require going inside the engine. Changing a crank pulley is something you...
What kind of idiot runs his engine with a half a quart in it?
The engine is a sum of it's parts, not just a block and head. Your example of running low on oil is exactly what happens with a 7m when you only spend $400 rebuilding it. You have inadvertantly made my point for me. Lots of things...
Dumber then your comment about how your engine was so reliable, except when it blew up, and then it was so reliable? Check your pm.
We were talking about the price of rebuilds and you took my comment out of context, read the whole damn thread before you try to flame someone.
So you are saying a used 7m in need of a rebuild will be totally reliable with no machine work, no hoses changed, no gaskets changed, etc...
Gimme a break.
And don't talk to me like that, you really piss me off sometimes.
I have built enough engines and worked on enough cars to know...
The dyno sheet can't show you how it feels driving it around under normal conditions. Same thing with peak output power numbers. It's not really about peak power because any turbo can do that if large enough, but getting a better combination of driveability and peak power is what the gt turbos...
:withstupi
See, this is the misinformation I am talking about from 7m guys without any jz experience.
It's the same machine work and the parts are basically the same prices for a 1jz and a 7m (some parts are even less expensive for a 1jz) It is not more expensive to fully rebuild a 1jz...
