Sounds like you need to launch at a higher RPMs. I had more success lauching at over 4K. And Slow66 hit it right, those tires are wider than 10.5 since they are ET DRAGS.

My head and cams looked just like that and I reused em. My machine shop told me it would be no prob and it hasnt been so far.

Thanks for all the comments guys, it was my 1st time ever at the track. Like I said, with a good clutch and some tranny work, Im sure Im deep in the 12s. Plus I need to get it tuned, its still runnin pig rich. Plenty of power left in her. It was a blast though, and thats all the matters to me.

Make sure you get Clevite bearings when you order em. A lot of companies like to put a cheaper bearing in a Clevite box, ask me how I know :3d_frown: Clevites are a light gray/whiteish color and say "clevite" on them.
