if you saw it before, something was horribly wrong. the wastegate only opens when full boost is achieved. if you were reaching full boost while free revving, your money should've gone elsewhere than an ebc.

when you do your starter... watch that rear knock sensor... the starter may not be too bad, but if you smack the knock sensor with a ratchet and break it... it will make you hate life.

i pulled my engine with the crank pulley on...
and when i need help... i got a friend with a snap-on cordless impact. that thing is unbelievably good. i cant stress that enough.... it's worked on seemingly completely impossible bolts.

two options:
run a switch to interrupt power to the headlight motors... or
what you can do is:
turn the lights on.
then turn the switch all the way off. it will delay, then the lights go down.
you need to time it just right. as the lights go down, turn the switch back to headlights on...
