What to do with my 86.5

Its pretty hard to get back what you put into a car of this age. If you want it to be reliable, i would do all the standard tests such as leakage tests, compression, vacuum etc. to get an idea of the engines overall condition. An engine beat on and not taken care of at 50k miles is gonna be a...

    Cooling problems

Ah, this makes sense, thanks for the clarification. Something unrelated, i have actually seen a picture long ago of the flow of a particular radiator where there were actually like 3 sections in one radiator. On the top left, it travels all the way across horizontally, then it turns back...

    Heater Core Bypass

Isnt it true though that the heater core valve is on the "To heater" line? So if you imagine that line being mostly blocked, you still have flow through the back of the head via the throttle body and the opening on the fitting directly opposite the "to heater" side, as it is a T going either...

    Cooling problems

What is an upright style radiator? And does crossflow purely mean that the cap is on the "low pressure" side of the system? I thought there were only crossflow and downlflow radiators and downflow had the tanks on the top/bottom and crossflow had tanks on either side purely for space/hood line...

    Heater Core Bypass

As you can see in this picture.

    Cooling problems

    I have heard this also.

anyone else have problems with front calipers seizing?

I always take the sliders apart and clean and relube them every time i do a brake job. That stuff is 20 years old and the seals are not that great, some moisture is bound to get in there over time.

    Cooling problems

make sure all air is out of the system and that your radiator cap is working right. And put a thermostat in it. If your radiator cap is not working right it could bleed off pressure too easily, making the coolant boil at lower temps. Also make sure you have a good coolant mix, and do a leak down...

    coolant problem...

Its supposed to rise as it heats up, and there shouldnt be a need for burping the system when you replace the radiator cap, since its at the top of the system and air comes up there naturally, just top it off.

    Burning Oil, How?

Many times the intake valve seals will leak on decell from the high vacuum in the intake manifold and will not leak any noticeable amount at any other time. Blue smoke on decell is actually the main symptom of intake valve seals leaking.

Constantly have air in my cooling system

With the way i wrote above its a little cheaper than the whole felpro set, and i would rather have a toyota head gasket than a felpro.

Constantly have air in my cooling system

Ok i have a few small questions because this will be my first head gasket job. I looked up all the prices for gaskets and sets and such and toyota is looking for $350 for a full head set. They want $80 for a head gasket only. Now ebay has a full head set for $37. I was planning on buying a...

Constantly have air in my cooling system

I pumped the leakage tester to 90 psi, so the cylinders, not the cooling system, and then saw the level in the filler opening with the radiator cap off rise/bubble

    Pulls hard after 4000RPM

I can feel mine kick around 4000 rpm also, how would i go about repairing this? Is it something to do with the vacuum canister?

    HMMMM... Which coilovers???

The fronts go lower than this, but the rears right here are basically as low as they go

    HMMMM... Which coilovers???

I dont reccomend the megans. I dont know if my set is weird or what, but my fronts are way soggier than the rears. If i go over a speedbump strait on, the front will bounce up and then down really hard, if i do the same speed over the rear it will just hop over the bump. Anyways, i have to set...

Constantly have air in my cooling system

BHG FTL! So i figured out its a bhg. Cylinders 5 and 6 are just slightly blown. I did a cylinder leakage test and sure enough when i cranked up the pressure around 90PSI the coolant level started rising. I guess the low pressure from the pressure tester wasnt enough to get past the partially...

Constantly have air in my cooling system

I have visually inspected it and its fine, and I pressurized it to over 10 psi and it held just fine, so I dont see a reason to replace it. I pressurized the whole tube btw, from the radiator nipple to the end of the tube in the overflow, which includes the connections on the overflow lid etc..

Constantly have air in my cooling system

UPDATE: Pressurized the cooling system. 100% held pressure. Pressurized the overflow tube, 100% pressure held. Replaced cap, same problem. Basically air is getting in, combustion is not getting into the coolant, everything is air tight according to all my tests....what am i left with? The...
